First time doing valves myself on my third Gen at 33k miles

After taking my bike to shops and getting screwed over repeatedly I decided enough is enough, bought a shop manual and did it myself this time. Man that was that a lot of work. Found some weird stuff from the knucklehead mechanics I took the bike to in the past such as missing bolts, longer bolts being where shorter bolts were supposed to be, vice versa, had a mini heart attack when I saw one of these geniuses decided to use a BUTTON HEAD ALLEN SCREW for the air charge pipe next to the spark plug when in the manual it shows an 8 mil hex. Thankfully got it out without stripping it and replaced it. Valve clearances were in spec, did a few other maintenence items while I had it apart, and got it back together by tea time.

Fixed up this 09 rebel 250. $1475 all in

Been fixing up and modding this bike for a friend of mine so he can tag along on an upcoming motocamping trip up the california coast for labor day weekend. Got it cheap needing work from sitting for at least 6 years. Just over 2800 miles on the clock. Replaced most of the wear components, cleaned the tank, rebuilt the carb, new petcock, new battery, air filter, changed the oil, new chain, new tires, tubes, new rear shocks, added sissy bar/luggage rack, saddle bags, top box, fork bag, seat cushion, dmv fees, registration, all in for $1475. All I gotta say is wow. I'm biased because I like small bikes but man this thing is so much fun. Replacement parts being dirt cheap is definitely a bonus. Been putting miles on it to make sure it's ready to go for the trip and it's been super dependable, starts right up and runs like a top.

Complained to corporate and got an $80 gift card. What would you buy?

I posted recently about how I bought the black aluminum oxide blast media and half of it was iron. Well I complained to corporate and they sent me an $80 gift card. I could save it for when I actually need something but thought you folks might have some bright ideas of what to do with it.

"Aluminum" blast media

This is the most ferrous aluminum I've ever seen! Good thing there are no returns for this!

Best looking result I've got with jet black gloss

I'm new to powder coating, have been blacking out parts for a motorcycle restoration I'm working on using the Eastwood hot coat system. Been getting decent results but this wheel hub came out so damn good I just had to share. That's all. Cheers 🍻

Quick thank you to the community

I listened to the advice I got from you guys and have been getting pretty good results powder coating these motorcycle parts. I've been into motorcycle restoration for a long time and got tired of doing traditional paint. I got the Eastwood PCS-250 system as was recommended to me and have been stalking the sub for general tips and advice. Having never done this before I'd say my first three parts came out great by my standards. I've been having a great time and am excited to see how this bike's gonna look when I'm done!

Noob here looking to coat some bike parts. Is this kit decent or junk?

Trying to put together a setup to coat a few motorcycle parts on a shoestring budget. Just working on personal hobby projects, not in any professional capacity. This kit from harbor freight looks like it will do the job, does anyone have any firsthand experience with it or have any general advice for someone just getting into powdercoating?

So I have a complicated living situation... my girlfriend has a family friend who let us move in to their 2nd home near the beach in socal with VERY affordable rent, however it was a bit of a hoarding situation when we got here. Ive already spent about a month getting rid of stuff and organizing to get the garage to this condition. Its WAY better than it was but I feel like theres still a lot of room for improvement.

My main usage of the garage is for restoring motorcycles, however im trying to clear a space in the back corner for my first gen toyota pickup which is still at my old house.

Aside from that, there is still some junk that needs to get cleared out, the landlord has some stuff she's storing here in the back that I have permission to organize but not get rid of, and then my stuff is kind of scattered around and not necessarily optimized. I want to use the space to its fullest potential but also im renting so I dont want to invest too heavily in permanent storage.

Lastly I know the carpet is atrocious but the lady wants to keep it, my thought is to just trim it so theres a carpeted pathway to the laundry room in the back corner as thats all she really cares about.

Im open to suggestions! And no im not doing laminated floors and hex lights 😂
