Masters or not?

I am in a dilemma.. I need to choose between a job or a masters degree.. I am 29 years old, and I am afraid that if I don’t do the masters degree now, I will never do it. The problem is that I have already signed the job offer, and are planning on starting pretty soon. I also have rented an apartment in the town where the job i, with 3 months resignation notice.

What would you do in my situation?

Materialteknikk 2

Noen her som kan si litt om dette faget? Er det spennende? Noen som kan sende meg tidligere eksamener, så jeg kan se litt hva det går ut på?

How to pivot from MechE to Finance?

I am a mechanical engineer with now 3 years of experience. I am considering going into finance. I don’t know how I can pivot, but I am considering doing a 2-year masters degree in Industrial Economics (Finance and Investements) next year. Then I’ll be 32 when I graduate..

Any thoughts, tips or tricks?

Mech E to Finance

I am a 29 year old mechanical engineer, with 3 years of working experience. I am very interested in finance, and want to work in that sector. I am not sure how I can solve my problem. Mechanical Engineering is really not for me… I need to figure out how I can get a job in the finance industry. I want to be a part of “winners” and heavy capital.

Noen her som har studert denne retningen?

- Hva jobber dere med?
- Hvor vanskelig er utdanningen?
- Lett å få jobb?

MechE to Investment Banker?

I am a mechanical engineer with 3 years of experience. I actually want to become an investment banker or some other finance related job. Maybe an analyst of some kind also. How can I achieve this?

Completely Lost, Any Tips?

I am a mechanical engineer (bachelors), and I really don’t want to continue in that track. I have been working for 3 years in the process industry, and I have just accepted a new job offer in another city. I really don’t have any motivation to continue working as a mechanical engineer, but I figured I could try one more job as a mechanical engineer before I decide to pursue something else. I am 29 years old, so I feel like time is running out.. I think I am interested in Finance, Strategy, Operational Leadership and Software. I am also interested in politics. I do not know how to rearrange my career so that I could work with something I am interested in… Any tips here?

What masters to pursue?

Hello,

I have 2 choices for my masters degree. I am unsure on which one to pursue. I have 3 years of experience as a mechanical engineer, and I am now ready for my masters degree. These are my choices.

  1. A masters degree in Mechanical Engineering at my country’s best technical university, specializing in Engineering Design and Materials

  2. A masters degree in Industrial Economics at another university, specializing in Risk Management, Investment and Finance

Two very different paths.. Any recommendations or tips?

Completely lost, need immediate advice

I am s 29 years old with a Mechanical Engineering degree (bachelors). I quit my job in the process industry because it burned me out. Now I am not sure what to do.

My original plan was to study for a masters degree in mechanical engineering or industrial economics, but I feel like none of them really are “my directions”.. I had a dream of becoming a pilot or a captain in a ship.. But now I don’t have any dreams or goals anymore, I just feel the insane pressure of “becoming something”.. I have also got a job offer from a company in the Oil and Gas business as a Mechanical Engineer.. The role is heavy mechanical engineering and equipment design for offshore and onshore drilling equipment.. I feel like this role really is not for me either.. I am honestly completely lost, and have no motivation to do anything anymore.. I am clueless on what direction to pursue.. I am considering traveling for a year to figure stuff out..

Thoughts on this?

I went to a psychiatrist for the first time in 2020.. At the time I was studying to become a pilot in my country’s only state sponsored aviation college.. I was admitted to this school after rigorous assessments, interview with an airline pilot and a psychiatrist..

The reason I went to the psychiatrist was because of a depression.. My girlfriend at the time broke up with me, my friends stabbed me in the back, I lived alone with little to no support, and Covid closed down the school.. All of this made me fall into a depression and I started to doubt myself..

I went to the psychiatrist and talked about how I was not suitable for becoming a pilot, how I was not “good enough” to become a pilot, and all other bullshit self-sabotaging shit.. All of this because my depression made me doubt myself.. The psychiatrist just supported me in my thoughts, and validated them.. I don’t think he understood that my depression and self-sabotaging thoughts were the reason for all of my doubts.. This made me quit my pilot education, with the advice and support of my psychiatrist.. I will never ever forgive myself for giving up on my dreams.. I will never get admitted to this free pilot education again.. I am honestly so completely lost.. And I regret so fucking bad going to therapy..
