Routing help (404mk2, Ableton, and midi controller)

I am hoping someone can come to my rescue and save me some time doing research, so here's the query:

I want to use my Arturia 32 (midi controller) to play sounds from Ableton (MacBook) to arrange into my 404mkii (main production unit). I am very familiar with the 404mkii, have a simple relationship with Ableton, and haven't used the midi controller yet.

a) should I be routing the sound as midi or audio out into the 404mkii? (I've never worked with midi before)

b) should the midi or audio be coming from Ableton or the controller?

I haven't used a clock before as well, and am not quite sure what they even do to be honest. Pretty much don't know anything about midi because I've done the majority of work on a Moog and 404mkii to this point.

I'm errly.sleeper on whatever social or streaming service if you want to connect or collaborate as well.

thanks.

Slow download speed CrossOver+Steam

My download speed is wildly slow compared to running steam natively on my MacBook Pro m4pro. Are there settings I should consider?

ISO midi controller

Preferably something with at least 3 full octaves. I don’t need anything fancy. Assignable knobs would be dope. If anyone has seen any at a thrift store or goodwill, tips would also be greatly appreciated.

Talking shop:

Just joined this group to talk shop about production and to gather/give feedback. Posted a link of my lofi synth work recently. I’m working on a guitar themed drop next.

All feedback appreciated. See you on the posts.

What's next?

Big fan of the 404mkii for years now. Been on the unit in person for about 2 years now, and a fan since release. I make 100% within the box for production and use my Moog Sub25, OP-1, and Vinyl for samples.

The question I'd like to ask, is in your opinion, what can I do to further improve the quality of sound in my production? I'm trained on traditional instruments, but having produced for 5ish years, I'm still cutting my teeth. We just had a baby, and with the limited time, I want to efficiently be using what I do have to continue improving.
