Denver girl looking for motorcycle ride

Hello! Random request ~ Also posted in r/DenverMeets 👋

I am 26/f and I am in the Denver metro area. I really like super cars and motorcycles and have been wanting to go for a ride on a bike, but don’t drive one myself! There’s a ton of beautiful roads in Colorado and I haven’t been on the back of a bike since I was a little kid. Really wanting to experience it again!!

I would love to find an experienced, responsible rider who’d be down to take me on a scenic ride sometime!! Obviously someone who is comfortable carrying a passenger and has the proper gear/experience. I’m happy to meet up for coffee first and get to know each other before hopping on a stranger’s motorcycle and riding off into the distance. 😅

I am a woman of barter and trading so I am willing to exchange a homemade baked good of your choice in addition to gas money for the experience.

If this sounds like something you’d be into, feel free to DM me 🙂‍↕️

* Edit - I appreciate any comments of weariness and safety concerns, etc!! I did grow up riding dirt bikes, 4wheelers, and on the back of my dad’s Harley and overall was a crazy kid / young adult. I am a thrill seeker (who is still cautious when needed) but enjoys fun and taking risks. I believe in the kindness of strangers and think this would be a fun way to make a friend(s) and have a fun experience. At the end of the day I always trust my intuition and will be super picky with the person if I decide to move forward with accepting a ride!! 🩵

*Edit 2 - this community has a handful of cool people, but overall there have been a lotttt of condescending or negative responses. I totally understand safety concerns on both sides and feel like it’s common sense both parties who agree would be participating in the risk at hand. I’m sorry most of you are not brave and don’t exercise your free will to fulfill your dreams ❤️‍🩹

I have not selected anyone from Reddit and plan to just keep an eye out for someone with cool vibes I could ask more questions regarding wanting a ride in person. This was just a baby step to see what kind of energy I’ll likely encounter within this community here in CO, and boyyy you lot showed out. I hope everyone who interacted with this negatively allows themselves to confidently and unapologetically pursue the things they’ve always wanted to do & experience!!!

Training Advice

Hello Reddit!

I adopted a 2.5 year old Queensland Heeler x Labrador mix in February from the shelter. She just turned 3 in June.
She was initially taken into the shelter as an almost 2 month old puppy, spent a lot of time in the shelter, eventually was adopted out, then returned approximately 9 months later by the guy who adopted her, then I adopted her about 2 weeks later - so she has spent majority of her life there.

I want to start by saying she is a very smart and special girl to me, but also a very new challenge. I have always had labs, and I have always lucked out with generally chill dogs who cultivate mutual respect with me.

She does what she wants 35% of the time, while listening to me about 65% - so I am taking my wins as often as I can. She has a lot of trauma, and a lot of high anxiety. The vet I took her to last weekend put her on Trazodone to help me combat her excessive reactiveness while walking her. I live in an apt, so I know being cooped up is hard on her. I WFH, so I walk her 3-4 times a day, take a lot of breaks to play with her, and ensure she has sniff mats and other types of enrichment. I started her with 1/2 the dose of Trazodone, and she was not herself at all. She was very dull and it seemed like it turned her personality off. I reduced it to 1/4th of the dose, and I feel more solid with this as she is being her playful, bitchy self with a sprinkle of chill.

My main concern is training - I’ve hired two different trainers who have been flaky and not very beneficial. I’ve looked into the petco/smart training and it seems bland and generic. Other training gets into the thousands and it stresses me out at the idea of a 30 day boarding or leaving her with someone else, especially considering her abandonment trauma. When we walk, she sees prey / other dogs and sometimes humans and gets very worked up. I’ve tried maintaining my energy through the leash, turning around to avoid, high reward treats, and even the love of her life: the ballllll.

None of that matters once her reactivity is turned on - I cannot find the off switch. I don’t want her in trazodone long term if that is possible, and I also want her to be able to come on hikes and get social interaction eventually. She is so incredibly smart, has so much potential, and I think really is full of love and just wants to protect me!

Other things I struggle with are her not having an off switch with playtime and obsessing over the door the ball goes behind once play time is over, jumping front paws into my bathroom/kitchen counters, and not understanding she can’t jump on me/others.

Any tips, tricks, or training program types are appreciated! Would love to know if someone has had similar situations with shelter dogs and what ended up being good solutions.

She is a huge challenge most days, which I am more than happy to have signed up for, but some days it gets really hard and I’m scared we won’t get there. I’ve seen huge growth in the 5 months I’ve had her, so I really believe with the right guidance / feedback she will be a stellar pup.
