Is breaking federal labor laws just routine in preload?
Everyone on preload in my building gets a generic text for the next morning's start time. However, depending on where you work, your time card will be altered each day to reflect when you actually started touching boxes. End of the belt like me is 15 minutes after the start time. There are no assigned positions in preload even though most people work the same spot every day. If you come in at the start time and have to wait for an assignment ('engaged to wait' under Fair Labor Standards Act) they still alter your timecard to reflect wherever they sent you. That particular situation is definitely a violation of federal labor law. I asked my union steward about all this and his response like usual is "I've fought it for years and they won't do anything". My question is, is this standard for everyone? Is breaking federal labor law UPS policy?
