MLT how much did you study and did you have a previous degree?

Anyone who went into an MLT program, how much did you study, how challenging was the course work, and did you have any previous degrees?

How bad is the pay and hours?

Right now the only thing holding me back from an MLT program and eventually sit for MLS is the pay and hours (plus limited room for growth). All I'm looking for is something that pays 35-40 an hour and allows me to work 3 12 hour shift (days). Is this realistic?

ACT, SAT, and Accuplacer

One of the programs I am considering applying to requires ACT, SAT, or Accuplacr. Even though I have a 4 year Biology degree, it's still required. I believe the ACT is what I took in high-school, but I was not a good student, don't even remember studying for it. The requirement is a 20, but I think I got a 17... I'm requesting my HS transcripts and hopefully they will include my scores and are better than I remember.

I'm assuming I'll have to retest. Of these three options, which would be the easiest, which would you reccomend, and how can I improve from years ago?

Can we consider careers evil? Yes, they were victims of the capital, but they do look like they are having fun. They always had a smile on their face when killing or attempting to kill.

Why is it so hard to swip the flashcards??

When I go into flashcard mode, WHY do I need to swip so far/hard left or right on my screen??? If I'm using the preview flashcards, they swip amazingly! Then I go into the flashcard mode and suddenly my finger needs to do a marathon across the screen. It's so annoying and hard to focus when I need to bring more attention into swiping a damn card. I should be able to hardly swip to go to the next card.

edit: The desktop version is just as bad! You can't even adjust the shortcuts! Instead of making up down arrows to flip the card, they made is the space button. How dense can you be. I literally just want to quickly flip through my flashcards.

How pass with an A?

How do you all pass pre reqs with an A? Even though I study, I slowly see my grade going down. Taking intro to psychology and my grade is at a 96%. I study and try to learn the material, but it feels like there are questions on quizzes and exams that are out of my control no matter what I study. I always seem to find test questions that are subjective. It doesn't help that the professor is teaching a textbook from 2022 but the required is 2025. I just don't see how it's possible for me to get 100%. In the past my grades usually slip to around a B. Causing me lots of anxiety because I have A&P2 and medical term in the Fall. I want to get into this program more than anything.

How long do I wait?

Hi everyone, I'm almost 25 and graduated with a bachelors in bio last year. I'm living on my own and working at a lab. I'll be quitting my job close to November and moving back home where a rad tech program is offered. Once I finish my pre reqs in August, I'll be submitting my paper app but the official time to apply is in March. My biggest worry is about getting into the program.

I know 25 isn't that old, but assuming I get accepted I'll be 28 when I graduate. I live in the Midwest US but have been wanting to leave for a while. I haven't experienced much of life so moving home for 2 years already feels like putting my life on hold. If I don't get accepted, then that's another year. I hardly want to move back home regardless.

I guess my question is, if I'm not accepted into the program the first time, should I change to a medical lab tech program? Both rad tech and MLT (eventually I'd sit for the MLS cert) are appealing to me. But rads make more and have modalities to go into. I like the idea of having something to work towards and increase my pay which rad tech offers.

My second biggest fear is if I don't get accepted the 2nd time. By then I could have been pursuing a MLT degree. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. If I go MLT it would take 2 years, then 2 years of clinical work to get CLS/MLS certified. All of that would be getting less pay, worse hours, and less chance to work up besides management. Any advice would be helpful. Maybe people who have done both as well?

My only other options are to apply to another rad tech program but it requires 4 hours of shadowing (not sure how to get it) and it seems to have a harder point system, also I could apply to a program 2 HOURS away and drive everyday, or finally be willing to take out a loan to afford the program in a completely different area (which scares me if I end up failing the program im screwed)

Sorry, this has been going through my head all day at work. It's a little bit of a mess.

Considering to move here

Hi, I currently live in Iowa but looking to move out in a few years. I'm in my mid 20s so I'll be moving hopefully a couple years before I'm 30 and my life is over. Would Ventura be a good place to live? I want somewhere that is chill with stuff to do, LGB+ friendly, not tons of traffic. Would this be a good place to set up my life? One concern I do have is that LA is about 1 hour away, I'm not sure if it's considered safe. I'm trying to find apartment with bulletproof windows but nothing is listed so I assume it's safe?? Unless there is a different area in CA that is nice. I don't really need a beach but would like lots of trees with winding roads and a decent population with low traffic. Any advice would help thanks!

MLT how much did study plus difficulty?

For a 2 year MLT program, how much did you need to study a night? Planning on adding MLT as a back up if I don't get into my other preferred program.

I have taken a intro to biochem class which was challenging, not sure how it compares.

Edit: just ignore my grammar, I posted this after taking an exam

Technologists in Blood Banking Cert?

Hi, I have a bachelors in biology and I'm currently taking pre reqs to get into a rad tech program. I know I'd be happy in that job, but I still like to explore my options.

I see there is an online blood banking cert that last about 1 year but you need to find your own clinicals. I have a few questions.

  1. Would not being an MLS/MLT affect job opportunities if I got into blood banking? I had been interested in doing an MLS but I'm not that smart and I've heard people say everyone crys from the difficulty/stress which I don't have time for.

  2. How hard is the actual program for blood banking such as through webers

  3. Are there tips on finding clinical sites?

Thank you
