Buying this house, how would you rework the main floor?

Buying this house and want to rework the main floor before moving in. Main thing we want is a more open layout, the kitchen is completely walled off. Would also love a walk in closet for the primary and eventually a second bathroom. I think we are fine with the idea of removing 1 bedroom.

Trying to keep it cheap and DIY most of it, so bonus points if the kitchen plumbing stays roughly where it is. Living room is a step down (converted garage) and there's a basement under the left half. There is a 4 car detached garage with a second floor we could do anything with as well.

What would you do?

Thanks in advance!

How would you rework this main floor? Kitchen has to stay put (plumbing), DIY budget

Buying this house and want to rework the main floor before we move in. We'd DIY as much as possible so trying to keep it cheap.

What we want:

-More open layout. Kitchen is completely walled off from the dining room

-Walk in closet for the primary. Thought about stealing the small bedroom but don't want to drop below 3 bedrooms, kills the value (but we would it needed, maybe future extension out the back)

-Eventually an en suite for the primary + a half bath somewhere, doesn't have to be now, just don't want to block it

Constraints:

-Kitchen sink/stove/DW stay on that wall, it's shared with the bathroom (wet wall) and I'm not moving plumbing far or gas

-Stairs to the basement are right behind the top of the kitchen/dining wall so I'm assuming that section stays

Living room is a converted garage, it's a step down and that wall was the original exterior wall so probably load bearing

-Screen porch is insulated with a mini split already, so maybe could make that livable space and include it.

-Budget is DIY tier. We'll do demo, framing, drywall, cabinets ourselves and sub out any beam work

-Second bathroom is in the basement already.

What would you do?
