timing belt replacement interval for my 2012 Opel Astra J 1.7 CDTI 110 hp (engine code A17DTJ). Th

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some clarification about the recommended timing belt replacement interval for my 2012 Opel Astra J 1.7 CDTI 110 hp (engine code A17DTJ).

The car’s timing belt kit, including the water pump, was replaced in 2019 at around 97,000 km. The car now has 197,000 km, so the belt has covered about 100,000 km and has been fitted for around 7 years.

I found different information regarding the official replacement interval:

150,000 km / 72 months (6 years) according to the ECOService maintenance information for 2011–2012.

Other websites mention 150,000 km / 120 months (10 years).

Does anyone have access to the official Opel service/maintenance schedule for the A17DTJ that can confirm which interval is correct?

Would you replace the timing belt now, given that it is 7 years old and has done around 100,000 km?

Thanks!

Opel Astra J 1.7 CDTI timing belt - replace now?

I'm considering buying a 2012 Opel Astra J 1.7 CDTI with 222,000 km.

The timing belt was replaced in 2018 at 121,000 km, and there is an invoice for the work.

The car now has 222,000 km, so the belt has done about 101,000 km and is 8 years old.

Would you replace the timing belt immediately because of its age, or is it still reasonable to keep driving it for a while?

Also, what is the recommended timing belt interval for the 1.7 CDTI engine in your experience?

Thanks!

Would you buy a 2014 Opel Astra J 1.7 CDTI (110 hp) with 180,000 km?

Would you buy a 2014 Opel Astra J 1.7 CDTI (110 hp) with 180,000 km?

I'm considering buying a 2014 Opel Astra J 1.7 CDTI 110 hp (manual) with 180,000 km for €3,990.

The car has:

Timing belt replaced at 144,000 km

Clutch and dual-mass flywheel replaced

Fresh service before sale

New tires before sale

Valid inspection (passed without major issues)

My usage:

28 km/day (mostly ring road/highway)

Additional weekend driving

Around 15,000–18,000 km per year

The turbo, DPF and injectors are believed to be original.

The only visible issue is a slightly misaligned front bumper corner, possibly from a minor parking bump.

My alternative is a 2010 Opel Astra J 1.4 naturally aspirated petrol with 143,000 km for €3,800.

Would you choose the 1.7 CDTI or the 1.4 petrol for the next 5 years?

Are there any common expensive failures on the 1.7 CDTI after 180,000 km that I should be aware of?

Opel astra j 1.4 essence 2010 100 chv 140k

I'm considering buying a 2010 Opel Astra J 1.4 petrol (100 hp) with 140,000 km on the odometer.

I've been told that the engine is a bit underpowered for a vehicle of this size and weight. Is that true?

Also, how reliable is this engine? Can it be considered a dependable car with relatively low maintenance requirements?

The asking price is €3,800. Does that sound like a good deal?
