New-To-Me Prius C: Sound Dampening + Audio Options?
Hi all! Hope I didn't miss anything in the wiki or previous posts, which I've already scoured. Loving my 2013 Prius C with 125k miles on it so much, especially given today's gas prices.
I'm wondering if there are effective ways to reduce road noise at highway speeds especially, or generally? I was about to swap out the radio head unit and install some new speakers, and realized that the increased sound quality might not be so noticeable if road noise kept me from hearing the clearer music.
I've seen some mentions on reddit + elsewhere of butyl CLD mats placed in the front doors, hatch skin, license plate area, and spare-tire well / foam sheets behind trim panels. Wondering if anyone here has tried this approach to sound deadening / cutting wind noise and rattles, on a Prius C or any other Prius? If so, how'd it work -- or maybe there are better options I just don't know about yet?
Just looking for feedback before going through the trouble of installation (not sure how tricky it is to install either) -- any thoughts, experiences or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm just a regular dude hoping to hear his tunes in (greater_ peace while driving my rock-solidly reliable 'lil marvel of 2013 engineering sipping gas...
