My neighbour's cat in heat escaped 18 days back and I am helping them find her as I was bonded with the cat as well. She was a former outdoor cat turned indoor cst, who have escaped twice previously and had Airtag collar so was traceable in 250m radius. Now while making escape her collar came off.

Now we live in an enclosed township with 1.6 km (1 mile) in radius. And we are sure that she will be inside the township unless she got displaced (chances are less as she ran away to find mate). We don't have any predators here -no stray dogs, no coyotes (i live in India), no hawks nothing.

As she has not returned on her own, we believe she has got displaced while searching for mate, though she was former outdoor cat with her territory 250m radius and was indoor for past 4 months.

My question is as we live in area with lots of bushes and garden around there many places cats can hide and go unnoticed. What are the best ways to cover the entire 1.6km radius area by placing trial cam (currently i have only one trail cam). We want to cover the entire area as the posters are not helping at all.

Female cat had her first heat at 5 months old, she made an escape in 14th June and hasn’t returned since. She was former outdoor cat who had escaped earlier as well but both the times she had AirTag collar so I brought her back home. But now while making an escape her AirTag collar came off. She is well versed with the area and used to roam about 200m radius

It’s been 12 days since and I am unable to find her in-the radius of 200m. Even the day she escaped an intact males in my area were just on their usual business there was no howling chasing running. I am not sure if she has travelled further away to find mate.

How long did ur cats in heat came back?

My former outdoor cat turned indoor cat escaped while in heat. It was her first heat and she escaped before I got chance to take her to vet.

Now my question is how long do cats in heat takes to come back. I am not seeing any signs of her being around radius of 200m. Neither any of the intact male cats - there are only 2 in the radius of 200m which was her previous territory are going crazy and chasing female out. She is gone for 8 days now.

Can any of you who had cat come back from heat comment how long it might take??

My cat was an indoor/outdoor cat who mostly stayed in our garden. On 14th Nov 2025, she came in the morning to eat, played with the other cats, and then never came back.

She had started disappearing for around 6 hours and would only return for food over the past few days before her disappearance. Three days before she went missing, she was away for 23 hours. She was spayed around a month back before her disappearance and I feel like she started enjoying the freedom that came with it.

Now I’m still unsure whether she got spooked and got lost, or if she left and found another territory. I’m also not sure if she might have hitched a ride, because she was usually afraid of unfamiliar humans. We live in an area with very little traffic and lots of trees and bushes, so the chances of her being hit by a car are low. I even checked the roads, but there were no signs of any hit-and-run.

My question is: if I continue my search, how should I do it? Should I still keep distributing flyers? We don’t have Facebook groups in my area, but we do have a community app where I have posted multiple times, though no one has come forward.

If you have lost an indoor/outdoor cat and managed to find her without her returning on her own, how far away was she usually found? I live in a township with 1.6km radius surrounded by a boundary wall, which tells me she cannot leave this place if she was not displaced.

So i live with 5 cats, and during playtime if my cat 1.5yr old male is not getting chance to play, or sometimes his brother and sister are sleeping/ resting and he wants to play, he gets frustated and vocalise (he is very vocal cat) and sees litterbox goes there and pee in small amount ( like coin shaped amount). Sometimes he uses twice in an hr when he is super bored and no one is giving him chance to play. But there are no accidents, he always have been peeing in litter box.

This has been going from 2-3 months since i converted him into indoor cat. Should I be worried, has anyone else has faced such issue?
