>Three photographers. One iconic stage. A moment none of us will ever forget.

The best part of the entire Michael experience was the sense of community.

From day one, it felt like a family coming together to make something special.
What meant the most was realizing that two photographers I deeply respect, u/brucewtalamon and Glen Wilson u/dubarts , were part of the same team. Friends outside of work, all coming together on something this iconic—it just felt right.

All three of us had a moment where we just looked at each other in awe… realizing we were shooting this film in the actual theater where Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever was filmed—the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. The same stage where Michael changed everything.

I visited the film set a week before our shoot just to feel the energy and meet the crew. The timing couldn’t have been better. I got to witness u/jaafarjackson perform the iconic moonwalk during the 1983 Motown 25th anniversary moment—on the very stage where Michael first did it on March 25, 1983, 43 years ago.

Watching u/jaafarjackson channel that energy while my friends worked the stage capturing it was humbling… and yeah, I was a little jealous. I wanted to be down there shooting too.

Instead, I picked up my iPhone and turned my lens toward my friend Glen, capturing him in his element as Jaafar brought those iconic moves to life.

It’s rare to be in the room with your peers, watching them at the top of their craft, all contributing to the same vision. It really does take a village to photograph the King of Pop… and I love seeing my people’s work living inside the legacy.
