Emergency filter

I opened up the pool yesterday and realised I had everything but a fresh filter. Turns out you can use the stuff that’s inside your (non-feather) pillows. Just place a sponge or some net/mesh to keep the batting from getting sucked into the pump. I used one of those red shop rags from the garage. Funny thing is after running the filter for eight hours it bleached the rag completely white! But the water is being filtered and not stagnating until I’m able to get somewhere that sells the filters. Just thought I’d share in case this saves somebody else the way it saved me.

Sirens down Chelsea again

Faded as they went south. Checked the clock. Bike Park is open. This is an almost daily thing now. Someone posted a snarky review before they even opened that injuries will overwhelm the small Mercy clinic across the street. Seemed hyperbolic then, but the number of Go Fund Me accounts and social media posts of injuries is wild. OTOH, traffic is down over at The Castle. Anyhoo, no real point to make, just curious as to what others think.

Trail Bag on sale $130

Been drooling over this for quite some time now. I don’t even carry a bag other than my laptop/gym! Von Maur has them marked down from $195 to $130, so for that price, is was hard to resist. This one is maple with the silver hardware. My only complaint is the crummy plastic card slot inside. What in the world is up with that? Bag charm was an abandoned and discontinued item in Versona that they couldn’t price check, so they let me have it for $5. Already worn it out and about and it is an eye-catcher! If you don’t know Von Maur, they are an upscale-ish department store in the midwest. They offer free shipping, an interest-free credit card, and free gift wrap. Some of the larger stores have a grand piano with a live pianist in the atrium! The brick and motor stores are kind of a throwback to some of the grander department stores of the 80s and 90s. Their website and online shopping experience leaves a lot to be desired, but if you have a mission and are tenacious, you can find some deals.

Health Dept. Inspections

OF NOTE: violations at all of the museum restaurants, even the food truck (ok, that one’s a little squishy) and the now 3rd business to occupy the longtime favorite former Papa Mike’s spot in Bella V. (which doesn’t reflect kindly on the POA.)

RIP this old home on SE A street

Rode by one day and it was still intact. A couple of days later it was gone. Not a complete shock, but still saddened because it was such a grand old house. I think it’s been vacant as long as I’ve lived here. It looks like at some point it had been converted into several apartments. I guess we have another McMansion with an attached Airbnb to look forward to.

It’s nice that they made a path over on the east side to connect people to the paved Greenway connector. We could really use something similar over here on the west side. There’s a family I see on their Gnargos riding up and down Riordan, but I’m too chicken to try. We need a path to get us to the parking lot so we can hit the paved path.
