Exit row qualifications
I flew earlier today across country in the row behind exit. There was a family of middle aged couple and one set of elderly parents taking up 4 seats of exit row. Older man had to be called twice to put his book down and pay attention to the questions. The middle aged son (or son in law) got everyone’s bags down. The elderly man sort of managed his own after the jet way but walked at a diagonal (I’m sure I’ll do that too one day !) and middle age son did need to come back and reorganize him. Elderly mom seemed a little more with it, but no pro athlete herself.
I’m sympathetic that they need more room for elderly knees but either the exit row stuff is important or it’s not. Elderly dad was not qualified if it’s actually important
I wonder if it makes sense to figure out more space in the back of the plane for the people who would otherwise get exit row, for their own benefit, rather than because they’re qualified to help others.
