bed bugs/mil what is worse?

so here i am again. a few weeks later posting again. Okay so original issue is my inlaws had bed bugs which were not treated. FIL passes away. They never got it treated and it is now infested. My husband is the youngest of 3. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I found a bed bug after leaving her house. Since then my husband and I have tossed our old bed and bought a new one. We are inspecting our house daily for signs and have an exterminator coming out on a schedule. My issue is my husband has not said anything to his family about it. My mil called my husband to come to her house and help with some chores. My issue is how do we keep going over to help without compromising my own home. We have already spent over 1000 that i was not prepared to spend. My husband doesn't think we should say anything because they know they have the issue. I feel like if maybe she knows she is causing others harm she will do something. I love my husband however I don't know if love is enough when i don't feel our home is a priority. What would you do?

PS just some facts:
Mil did get about 50k from life insurance which isn't a lot when the bread winner passes away. Mil and Sil go out shopping at least once a week and mil is paying for sil groceries and car payment. This normally wouldn't be my business however it becomes by business when they want us to pay for xyz.

Advice welcome

My fil past away a few months ago. Mil is now calling my husband to come and mow her yard. I do not have any problem with him helping his mother. My issue is we agreed way before this that our mower would not be used anywhere but our house in an attempt to get use of the mower that is already on its last leg (note a part is going out that isn't worth the fix so we will have to buy a new one). Just because his mother called he changed our agreement without even talking to me about it. His response was she has no other choice. My reaction was why not we all pitch in(us, her, sister and brother) and have a company come and mow. The problem is mom and sister can't pitch in due to money (note 62 yo sil lives separate from mil but she still pays her bills). I feel like a selfish person partly but honestly i am just trying to maintain the equipment for our house. We don't have the most money in the world and i would like to maintain what we have for where we live. any thoughts?
