Some of the footage was originally shot for a documentary of the European leg of The Onyx Hotel Tour, but was repurposed after Britney was injured and decided to start a family with Kevin.
To promote the show, Britney & Kevin appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The David Letterman Show.
The series was criticized and called career suicide. Viewership dropped steadily over the five weeks the series aired. Britney later described the series as "probably the worst thing I've done in my career," and said: "I would never do something like that again."

On May 16, 2000: Britney's second album Oops!...I Did It Again was released the United States. The release of the album was staggered worldwide, with Europe getting the album on May 15th and the United States on May 16th.
Recording sessions for the album began in September 1999. The album incorporates pop and dance pop, as well as funk and R&B. Four singles were released from the album, all of which became worldwide hits: the title track, "Lucky", "Stronger", and "Don't Let Me Be the Last to Know." The album was promoted through the Crazy 2K Tour and the Oops!...I Did It Again Tour, Britney's first world tour.
Oops!... I Did It Again was a massive commercial success worldwide, debuting at number one in over 20 countries. In the United States, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, with first-week sales of 1.319 million copies, holding the record for the fastest-selling album by a female artist and the largest first-week sales for a female album for 15 years. The album was certified Diamond for selling 10 million copies in the US and it has sold over 20 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling albums of all time.
