Generational differences

Since the topic on social media lately has been Gen Z in the workforce and how “lazy” we supposedly are, etc., I’m just curious have y’all noticed any differences between generations in your cohort?
The eldest person in mine and her little “clique” are extremely funny acting and honestly borderline bullies. She’s definitely the main one, but you know what they say about birds of a feather.
It genuinely makes me wonder if some older students are bothered by the fact that younger students are achieving the same goal at a much younger age, because what is with the constant need to humble someone, talk down to them, or make little condescending comments? It’s exhausting. School is already hard enough like pleaseeeee.
The behavior is so nasty, but they play it SO well that it’s hard to even report it to faculty. Each individual interaction is subtle enough to be brushed off, but when you’re on the receiving end of it constantly, you know exactly what’s happening.
Honestly, it makes me question the interview process and whether more needs to be done to keep these mean-girl personalities out of such an amazing profession.
I’m tired. Has anyone else dealt with this?

Instagram

I accidentally permanently deleted my Instagram and I’m actually so sad about it 😭 I had a reminder set to reactivate it before it was permanently deleted, but I completely forgot.

My Instagram was basically my digital diary. I had SO many memories on there, and I would even delete pictures off my phone sometimes after posting them because I knew they were on Instagram. For context, I’ve had that account since I was a senior in high school.

For the past year or so, I’ve constantly deactivated my account because Instagram gives me a lot of anxiety. This last time, Instagram wouldn’t let me deactivate again because I had recently logged back in and had to wait 7 days. So I chose “delete” instead because I’ve done that before and would just log back in before the 30-day deadline. Except this time…I forgot. 😭

I think another part that hurts is that I’m already a loner and very introverted, but I had people from so many different walks and stages of my life on Instagram. Some I probably wouldn’t have any other way of finding or keeping up with, so now I somehow feel even more isolated than I already did. :(

At the same time, there was obviously a reason I kept deactivating it. The app genuinely gave me anxiety. Especially as a Black woman, I felt this constant pressure to fit the whole Instagram “baddie” aesthetic, look a certain way, post a certain way, have a certain lifestyle, etc. It was draining to say the least. But despite all of that, it still held so many memories and connections from different periods of my life, and realizing all of that is just GONE has me crashing out right now 😭

For people who don’t have Instagram anymore, whether intentionally or because something similar happened to you, how did you cope with losing that digital archive and those connections? Did you eventually feel better without it? Any advice would help because right now I’m SICK 😭

Church recs

I’ve tried two churches since moving here, and both have felt a bit overwhelming for me. I go for the sermon and take-home message, but one service was like 95% singing and dancing and only 5% preaching while the other was a good mix but they police where you sit.

The biggest issue, though, is feeling pressured to interact. At both churches, I was told where to sit, and at one I was even asked to move so I’d be sitting directly next to someone… even though the entire row was empty and I sat with a seat in between me and the person for personal space. As someone with really bad social anxiety, that made it really hard to focus on the service.

I’m looking for a church where the sermon over powers the singing/dancing and you can quietly come in, choose your own seat, and enjoy the sermon without feeling singled out or forced to interact. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
