GPU and RAM are the most important for TradingView lag - for those with 100+ tabs

My system is a Ryzen 9700X and initially started with 1x 32GB of DDR5 RAM (G Skill Ripjaws 6000Mhz) and an RX 580 GPU (I am not a gamer). Once I went over 100 tabs of Tradingview (each containing 10 panes), it lagged like hell.

Secondly, I bought another stick of 32GB DDR5 RAM and still lagged like hell once I crossed 100 tabs.

Thirdly, I upgraded to an RTX 5060, zero lag. Increased the tabs to 120 (I trade multiple tickers) and still, zero lag. That's with each indicator pane having 10+ indicators. Heavy heavy multitasking.

So I think the GPU does a lot for helping rendering the Tradingview graphics output and CPU for the initial Pinescript + data processing. Perhaps the RTX 5060 acts as a second processor for loading the charts and supports the function of the 9700X. I'm not entirely sure why the new GPU helped so much. The 9700X is still extremely fast and I'm very impressed by it.

Most people told me the GPU doesn't matter for Tradingview. But it made a huge difference for me.

AOE4 average rank by country

It's not surprising that the Koreans are the top of the average rank list at #16041. Koreans have always been the top country when it comes to RTS games.

Despite being Korean, I know zero Koreans who play this game. For RTS, most Koreans still stick with Starcraft/Starcraft 2. I hear that most young Koreans do not play RTS, in favour of FPS.

Oman is an obvious outlier with only 11 players. Still, very impressed.

HK at #19892 and China at #20194.

I know this game is huge in China for unknown reasons. Starcraft was quite popular in China but they never had many good players. Perhaps if Relic Entertainment can promote the game in Korea, we'd have a lot more talent coming into AOE4 and because Koreans are so familiar with RTS games, there could be a huge boost in the number of active players.

Just food for thought.

Macro vs map control vs micro civs

I've played this game for about a year now and rank low diamond/high platinum. Coming from Starcraft 2, AOE4 is definitely less micro intensive, and more focused on macro. The common adage that your whole army can be wiped out within 1-2 seconds in Starcraft 2 is not entirely wrong, especially for lower leagues. But at the pro level, this is due to a skill issue.

This has nothing to do with overall difficulty of each civ, which is entirely a different topic.

Here is my ranking of civs for

1. macro focus (top being most macro focused, bottom being the least):

Byzantines (no, this isn't just due to passive resources/olive oil. I feel like decision making and building placement and versatility is crucial for this civ)

Abbasid

KT

Chinese (macro is important, but micro is arguably just as important and if you screw up your micro esp with IOs, you're going to be left behind quite quickly. Like Byz, Chinese scales once they get into boom stages/later ages)

Tughlaq (scales out of control once you let them get a few forts and bonuses associated)

HRE / OOTD

English (TC spam, building placement, etc)

Jin

Ottomans (decision making is important compared to other civs. Most S-ranked players think Ottomans are easy to play, but for beginners, it might not be so due to higher complexity, decision making i.e. 2TC vs FC vs military schools)

HOL

Golden Horde (this civ also scales well later on due to more efficient villager production, and once you get a few relics/ovoos down, it snowballs from there)

Delhi (more a micro and map control focused civ, however there are some more complex macro fundamentals)

Malians

Ayyubid

Mongols

Rus (high trade house, proscouts, hunting cabins, and a few other nitty gritty mechanics make this slightly more macro focused than other micro focused civs)

Zhu Xi

Sengoku

Jeanne D'Arc

Japanese

Macedonians

French (very micro focused civ, feudal power spike and relatively simple macro dynamics)

2. Map control focus (top being the most map control focused, bottom being the least):

Delhi (self explanatory, you want to control sacred sites and prevent enemies from regaining control. Early harass is important. Compared to other civs, this civ doesn't scale as well, so dominating the early game is crucial)

Mongols

French

Malians

Tughlaq

Golden Horde

Ayyubid

KT (sacred sites, fortresses, early expansion, etc)

Sengoku

Ottomans

HOL

Zhu Xi

Rus (early relics, proscouts, early knights, etc)

Jeanne D'Arc

Japanese

Macedonians

English

Chinese

HRE / OOTD

Byzantines (this civ is more about balancing defence vs offence, consolidating economy mainly inside the base, and scaling up)

Jin

Abbasid

3. Micro focus (top being the most micro focused, bottom being the least):

French (a few villager kills in feudal can end the game quickly both in pro and lower leagues. Due to early power spike, utilising units to their full potential early is more important than ever)

Jeanne D'Arc

Zhu Xi

Macedonians

Malians

Japanese

Mongols

Chinese (imperial official micro is extremely important. Depending on how you micro them, could make or break a feudal all-in push [either by you or the other player])

Ayyubid

Ottomans

Delhi

HOL

Sengoku

Tughlaq = Golden Horde

Rus

English

HRE/OOTD

Byzantines

KT

Jin

Abbasid
