👋 Welcome to r/Gardens - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Hey r/Gardens — new mod here

I’m u/Pristine-Tea2511, and I’ve just taken on moderating this sub. It’s been running without a mod for a while, so I’m having a look at what needs tidying up and will share any rule updates soon.

A bit about me: I’m a gardener based on the South Coast of the UK, obsessed with dahlias, and I’ve been contributing here for a while before being asked to step in. So I’m one of you, not a stranger with a clipboard!

What this sub is for

Gardens in all their forms: photos, projects, questions, disasters, victories. All levels, all styles, all locations welcome.

A few things I’d love from you

Drop a photo or tell us what you’re growing right now. And if you spot anything that needs moderating, spam or unkind comments, hit report and I’ll pick it up.

If you’re interested in co-moderating, feel free to DM me.

Thanks for being here. Now show me your beautiful gardens!

Stumped

This is an old cherry tree stump. It’s been cut for at least three years.

The wood is definitely more spongy and less hard.

Boy its a biggun. This is half a day digging.

Now what do i do..? Keep going or get a stump grinder firm to come and deal. !!

Casket arrangement using wholesale flowers.

I’m not really a professional. More of a hobby and side hustle. But this is my third casket arrangement, the family wanted a tropical tribute to their niece. I normally grow and arrange British garden flowers so this was a bigger brief.

I signed up to flowervision in Southampton for a wholesale account. And ordered way too many blooms but I’m so happy with the outcome.

It’s not sustainable as I used oasis and ordered Flowers from the Netherlands.

But more than anything it made my day when the family sent a WhatsApp saying how happy they were.

Would love feedback!

New galvanised tub pond 🥰

Newly installed. 6/7 days before popping in some rosy reds.

Brilliant by from gumtree. Used expoy putty to seal. Genius suggestion from Claude (ai)

50:50 tap and pond water from out main pond . Pump in. Overflow will just happen. Feed from greenhouse (when it rains)

So excited to get new little fishies!!

New obelisks but too hot complaint sweet peas.

Love this weather. Roses are struggling just as they came out to boom but also really happy with how these obelisks turned out.

Hot weather fired the paint fast 😆😆

Peonies are coming along two years in.

Implanted these from farmer Gracy. Put about 6/8 in a couple didn’t make it but the coral one is unreal and look at the colours! Gorgeous to have in the garden. 🥰

Pond is looking so cute with the backdrop of the wisteria. Gorgeous blooms this year. Our pond isn’t huge or deep but we have newts and dragonflies which is amazing considering there are four koi in it and a large common carp (inherited with some waterlillies!!)
