Fabric suggestions?

Fabric suggestions?

Made this skirt today! I drafted the pattern in CLO and I'm pretty happy with how the godets turned out.

I made sure the godet pieces fit the curved seams properly, which was a bit of a challenge, but they ended up fitting really nicely. I still need to hem the bottom.

I had some trouble with the fabrics, though. The darker fabric has a ton of sequins, which made sewing the seams a little annoying. The white fabric is embroidered but quite sheer, so I ended up lining it.

I'm still experimenting with fabric choices for this design, so I'd love to hear what fabrics you would use for it. I'm thinking something with enough structure to hold the shape of the godets, but still enough drape for them to move nicely.

What fabric would you use for this design? 😊

New Etsy shop selling modern paper embroidery PDFs. I'd really appreciate an honest critique.

Hi everyone!

I've recently started an Etsy shop selling printable paper embroidery templates and I'm slowly working towards offering complete kits as well.

Right now I have six listings and I'm adding new designs consistently rather than rushing to fill the shop.

I'd really appreciate honest feedback on things like:

• Listing photos

• Branding

• Pricing

• Product descriptions

• Whether the product is immediately understandable

• Anything that would make you more likely to buy

I'm not looking for promotion or sales. I'm genuinely trying to improve before Q4 and would love fresh eyes from people who have more Etsy experience than I do.

Looking for testers! Printable Budgie Paper Stitching Card 🐦💙

Hi everyone! 🐦🥰

I'm looking for 1-2 testers for my printable Budgie Paper Stitching Card.

If you scroll through this post, you should find a card I previously tested, my Dango Penguin Paper Stitching Card. That test went really well, and on completion of this test I'll be happy to offer you this Budgie template as a thank-you.

This test is mainly to confirm that the DMC thread colours work as intended. I don't have access to DMC threads where I live, so I'm unable to accurately test the colour palette myself.

Requirements:

- Access to DMC embroidery floss.

- Ability to print on suitable paper. The template is designed for 150 gsm paper (or similar), and I'll provide a simple guide explaining how to choose the right paper before printing.

You'll receive:

- Printable PDF template

- Stitching guide

- DMC colour guide

- Paper selection guide

I'm looking for feedback on:

- Colour accuracy

- Overall stitching experience

- Any confusing instructions or areas that could be improved

Testers will need to provide:

- At least 1 clear photo of the finished card.

- One 5-10 second video showing the finished card.

The photos and video will be used (with credit) on my Etsy listings and social media.

If you're interested, please send me a DM, and I'll send you the files.

Thank you so much! 💙

[SHOP] Dango penguin cross stitch card

I designed this little Dango Penguin as a paper embroidery greeting card. 🐧🍡

It's stitched directly onto 150 gsm drawing paper. Once finished, you can glue another sheet of drawing paper to the back so there's space to write your message inside.

I wanted to create something that combines the look of cross stitch with the charm of a handmade greeting card.

AI Disclosure: No AI was used in the design of this pattern, the pattern creation process, the stitched sample, or the product

Graduating godet skirt

Made a half-scale prototype of a skirt I've been working on and wanted to get some opinions from fellow sewists. 😊

The idea is a skirt with graduated godets and two side ties. The center godets are the longest, the ones beside them are slightly shorter, and the side godets are the shortest.

A few things I learned from this prototype:

- The waistband ended up wider than intended.

- I made the lining panelled, which added more bulk at the waist than I'd like.

- The difference between the godet lengths isn't as noticeable as I hoped, so I'm thinking of increasing the variation in the full-scale version.

I'm also considering using contrasting fabrics for the godets to make the graduated effect more obvious.

I'd love to hear your thoughts:

- Would you increase the difference between the godet lengths?

- Would you use a contrasting fabric for the godets?

- What fabric would you choose for a skirt like this?

I'm currently leaning toward rayon because I love the drape and movement, but I'm curious what others would use.

Thanks! Always appreciate the feedback and ideas from this community. 🧵

[WIP] Experimenting with Paper Cross Stitch Bookmarks - Feedback Wanted

Hi everyone!

I've been experimenting with a self-drafted paper cross stitch bookmark concept and would love some help testing it. 😊

The idea is simple:

🩷 Print the template on cardstock

🩷 Punch the marked holes with an awl (using EVA foam, cardboard, or a cutting mat underneath)

🩷 Cross stitch as usual

🩷 Print a second copy and use it as a backing

The photos show my current prototype. It is stitched using 3 strands of floss.

One challenge is that I don't have access to a wide selection of embroidery floss colours where I live, so the stitched sample doesn't perfectly match the intended colour chart. Because of that, I'd love feedback from someone able to stitch using the recommended colours.

I'm mainly looking for feedback on:

• Is 3-strand coverage enough, or would 4 strands look better?

• Does the paper hold up well during stitching?

• Are the instructions clear and easy to follow?

• Is this something you'd enjoy stitching?

Pattern source: Self-drafted

If anyone would be interested in helping test the concept and sharing feedback, please send me a DM. 💕

Thanks!

Cross stitch bookmark!

Hi everyone! 💖

I’ve been experimenting with tiny paper cross stitch bookmarks and recently designed a fountain pen bookmark template that I’d love to test using proper DMC threads.

Unfortunately DMC floss is really difficult to find where I live in India, so I can’t test the final colours accurately myself right now 😭

Would anyone be interested in helping me test stitch the bookmark and letting me know how the colours turn out? I’d also love to see photos of the finished result if possible!

Please DM me if interested ✨

Paper cross stitch bookmark

Looking for 1 tester for a fountain pen themed paper cross stitch bookmark pattern ☕🖋️

This is a printable paper/cardstock cross stitch bookmark, so no fabric is needed.

Turnaround time: ~1 week

What you’ll need:

- printer

- cardstock

- cardboard or foam backing

- ultra thin awl OR a sewing pin (in a pinch)

- DMC floss

Important printing instructions:

- If printing on A4 paper: select A4 + “Actual Size”

- If printing on US Letter: select US Letter + “Actual Size”

Do NOT scale the template or the holes won’t align correctly.

Process:

  1. Print template on cardstock

  2. Place cardboard/foam behind the cardstock

  3. Punch holes using an awl or sewing pin

  4. Sew following the chart using DMC floss

  5. Cut around the template outline

  6. Print and cut the backing template again

  7. Glue the clean backing piece onto the back of the stitched bookmark to hide the threads

I’d mainly like feedback on:

- print scaling

- hole spacing

- ease of assembly

- clarity of instructions

Please comment or DM if interested 🌸
