The Edit: Kimpton Qiantan Shanghai by IHG
I’ve never seen a review of this property so I wanted to share my experiences for people who are planning to stay here in the future.
This is also my first time staying at a luxury hotel, so everything is new to me.
I stayed two nights at the Kimpton Qiantan Shanghai using The Edit and IHG Credit. I also used points boost with the remaining points I had left so I paid $70 for two nights.
ROOM/CHECK-IN: I came into the hotel around noon time and I was able to check-in early. The hotel receptionist said that I received an “upgrade” but it did not feel like one, it was just a higher floor. There was a welcome amenity of fruits, but I did not receive it till the next day. I also received a 60 Yuan voucher for being a platinum member. The room was nice itself, and the best bed mattress I’ve ever had a hotel. The bathroom came with a personal TV inside the mirror, a rain shower, and a huge square bathtub. The toilet has its own room separate from the bathroom.
PROPERTY/LOCATION: The hotel by itself is stunning, but the location is the only downside for this property (about 30 mins drive from the main area). The area around the hotel is great as it has many shopping malls, cafes, and restaurants close to it. The gym was great, but the main part of the show is the rooftop pool. It was raining and cloudy when I was there, but I wish I have swam in the pool because it has an incredible view of the skyline. I can’t imagine how it will look like if the weather was clear.
BREAKFAST/CREDIT: Breakfast is a buffet style, with a mix of Chinese and Western cuisine. The hotel does switch up some parts menu for breakfast daily, so it doesn’t feel repetitive eating the same breakfast two days in a row. Overall, it was great, no complaints about it.
I was able to use my $100 dining credit at the bar. The bar was definitely way too expensive to my liking and I would not have gone there if I didn’t have my dining credit. The credit cannot be used towards room service, so the bar was the only place I could use it at. Just a burger and drink almost used up by $100 dining credit already.
SERVICE: I mean WOW. Service was incredible. I’ve never had this type of service in my life before, so it was definitely a shock when I first arrived there. When I first arrived, there was already a staff waiting at the front of the hotel, which he took all my luggages and guided me to check-in. After check-in, I insisted I did not need help to take my luggage into my room, but they still did it anyway. The staff personally guided me into my room all the way from the lobby. After check-out, the staff took my luggages and help me loaded into the trunk of my uber driver. Even when I was walking around the property, the staff was super friendly and asked if I needed any directions or questions.
Would I stay here again? Yes of course. Everything in this hotel exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend this hotel if anyone is visiting Shanghai, even without the Edit or IHG credit. I would definitely be staying here in the future again. If you want a quiet and peaceful property away from the crowded/bustling area of Shanghai, this property might be the perfect place for you.
