41yo.

225lb (first photo at my biggest ever) to 183 currently.

I had a really silly goal.

I wanted to be able to tuck my shirts in and look good as I like timeless/smart outfits.

Change since January was mostly due to locking in on eating habits and portion control over last seven months.

Actually feels like a sustainable new way of living and surprisingly hasn’t been that difficult (miserable) being in a seven month slow cut.

I’ve skipped leg day for seven months straight (lol) because I work out at home and only have adjustable dumbbells to 52.5lbs so decided to target vanity muscles (lots of weighted pull ups, shoulders, biceps). Also the reason why my chest is underdeveloped… just don’t have heavy enough weights for most of the big compound movements.

Cardio is satisfied by playing pickpeball three to four times per week for two hours each session. I hate going on walks so pickleball is a godsend for me.

Promising myself to never go back to where I came from and bought all new pants (size 34 to now 31) that won’t allow me to. Haha.

Goal is to see the scale flash 179.9lbs just for fun, then climb back and maintain weight between 180–185 on a permanent basis.

The one crappy thing during this journey is I recently had my annual checkup and while doctor was very complementary of my weight loss, my bloodwork came back even worse than when i was 30lbs heavier (higher A1C than ever before, pushing me towards pre diabetic range). So I might look better but somehow I’m going to end up diabetic, lol.

Chat says to keep cutting

40yo.

Was sick of my love handles only getting bigger and squishier over the last decade of life. Realized I was just gonna keep growing if I didn’t change something.

Cleaned up my diet and portion sizes end of January with a starting weight at 208lbs.

Only have access to dumbbells up to 50lbs at home and use my carport rafter beam for pull ups.

Sitting at 190lbs now. Motivated to keep cutting as the progress so far seems to have come fairly easy and with much better results than I was anticipating. Think I want to stretch to 180lbs, but current goal is to hit 185lbs and assess.

6’2 for reference.

Thoughts?

Pull up form using a carport beam.

Hoping for a form check given I’m doing pull ups at home using my carport beam. Am I engaging my lats enough or do I need to arch my back even more as I pull towards the beam?

Is using the beam easier or harder than pull ups would be with a bar?

My goal is to be able to do a muscle up, but I don’t get to practice the rotation above the bar given I have a flat beam and therefore a completely different grip. Any advice welcome.
