Should I cut and build or recomp?

32M 175lbs and 5’7

Been wanting to get stronger and build muscle, but after a hard look in the mirror and some BMI stats I think it would be reckless to try and bulk in any capacity right now. Would I benefit more from a hard cut to get body fat down and then clean bulk, or should I try and recomp? Definitely fit the skinny fat mold where I look in good shape with a shirt on (broad shoulders for my size about 2ft wide), but shirt off I’m nervous and self conscious for sure. Biggest pain point is storing fat in my chest and love handle area.

4-month Cut

Transformation. Jan 12 (225#), May 16 (189#).

Weighing 187.8# this morning (May 21). Assuming 18-19% body fat. Unfortunately there is also a major difference with unflexed in the first picture and flexed in the second picture, not giving the most accurate representation. Regardless it’s great progress and I’m feeling proud. 😊

25M 5'10" 175lbs, feeling stuck

Been working out for 2ish years, currently doing UL followed by PPL, and cycle 13 miles once or twice a week. I know it's not very good progress for that duration, I used to be 135lbs so I'm at least happy to not be so skinny anymore (though I think a good chunk of the weight came from overeating during holidays which would explain the lack of muscle). It's been consuming a LOT of my thoughts and I am desperate to really make some progress. I work very hard in the gym but I think diet is holding me back.

My weight currently isn't really changing due to poor adherence to a slow bulk; I was semi-happy with where I was but after browsing this subreddit I started asking myself if I am getting/already just skinny fat. On one hand I'm scared to cut, lose any progress I made, and "revert" to my former self. On the other hand, my coworkers call me small and constantly say I need to just deal with a true bulk, but I'm scared to make my skinny-fatness worse.

I definitely need to take a step back and be honest about my lack of progress, and adjust accordingly. Any advice/opinions you guys have is welcome, especially from those who have had a body type like mine and made the right decisions to get the body they want. Thanks!

Can I cut yet and did I get ANY muscle from the bulk

I got fairly lean and gained little prob no muscle but weight loss takes time, I got lean eventually (left pic don’t say I’m not fnaf lean let a former tubby) but was 140 at 6 foot. I was scared to get to the 130s so I been eating good the past 6 ish weeks and I’m not really great at keeping fat off and that shit is fucking me up (right oic, idk if it’s body dysmorphi or whatever figured I actually fix my eating habits and lean bulk for another 6 weeks weeks or something but the aggressive cut is coming, I’m pretty sure I decided but I Ned your guys’s reassurance. You can be honest ofc I know this bulk was sorry as shit and also body fat percent would be very helpful I think it’s a little above 20%. Also I was 140 in the first pic and 150 in the second 😭😭

Bulk or Recomp?

I have been weightlifting seriously for 1 month and doing pushups for about 6 months.

I have looked through a lot of these posts and couldn’t find a similar body type.

6’0” 168lb

I was doing a 261 caloric surplus bulk.

But now I’m wondering if that is the right move as a beginner? Will it just give me muscles but make my belly even bigger? What is my estimated body fat percentage (I figured somewhere around 20% but I have no idea)?

Should I recomp instead at maintenance? Should I recomp at a slight surplus?

What body fat am I? Should I try to lean bulk to 180?

I used to be over 300lbs but I have recently dropped to 160-163 on my second cut which was unintentional, I love the way it makes my veins stick and feel chiseled. I always thought I’d be heavier than I am right now but I guess that’s life. I really want to prioritize my frame and build it up though since I’m only 21

Bulk or Cut more?

I went from 82 kg (181 lbs) to 78 kg (172 lbs), but I still don’t really see a six-pack. Sometimes I can see it in good lighting or after a workout. I’ve been training abs for months and I’ve been cutting for a while now. Should I lose more weight, or bulk?

Body fat estimate? Recomp?

Where would you put my body fat%? I feel like it’s somewhere around 25% but I also have no clue what the variability is like for people who are thinner. I’m between 5’11 and 6 ft (181.5 cm) and like 154 lbs (70 kg). I want defined abs, no crazy shredded and want to maintain around 150. Where should I go from here? My TDEE is like 2350 and I’ve been eating ~1500 and lowered my weight down from 159. Thank you!

Bulk or cut? 5’10 58.5kg

76kg in October, 58.5kg as of this morning. I’m in a tough spot because I know I’m very light and have little muscle but i really don’t want to gain fat. My aim is to continue cutting until i have visible abs and then slowly lean bulk, but i would really appreciate your opinions please. My ‘end goal’ is 72kg+ lean. I know I’m a long way from this but I’d hate to carry a lot of fat until then.

25M, 5'9", 83 kg. Should I bulk or cut?

I have been going to the gym for over a year. Evolt body scan gave me 25% body fat so I should be cutting according to it but I don't have much muscle mass yet to cut down on. I had started gym as a skinny fat person.

What body fat am i

61.5kg, 174cm, 20yo.

Been trying to work out what body fat % i am, ive been aiming for a true 8% the first 5 photos are in really good lighting, the last 2 are after a pump but more realistic lighting.

Also im not sure if i should lean bulk yet or keep cutting, mentally im feeling it (been cutting for just a little over a year), but i used to be fat af (85kg) so i wanna see what i look like in peak form just once.

Also if photos of my legs are needed for a better estimate I’ll put them up.
