Hi everyone!
My wife and I started a vintage telephone audio/video guestbook rental business in July. Our city is small but progressive, and this type of service is still new here.
From July to August, we had 2 bookings and generated ₱12,000 in revenue, recovering about 30% of our initial investment. We’re reinvesting all earnings back into the business.
We’ve joined a local small business organization, participated in an expo, and market through Facebook and Instagram.
What would you do next to grow a niche business in a small city? Any advice is appreciated.

Hello!
I’m planning to start an exclusive fasteners (bolts, nuts, screws) business in my small city. Surprisingly, there isn’t a dedicated shop here that focuses solely on fasteners, so I see a potential opportunity since almost every industry needs them.
I was close to launching before pero nangyari yung oil crisis so I decided to observe the market first till now.
I’ve already identified reliable local suppliers and plan to sell both retail and wholesale.
For those who are in the fastener business or any related industrial supply industry, do you think this is still a good niche? Any advice on inventory, pricing, common mistakes, or things I should watch out for before starting?
I’ve been working as a Procurement & Operations Officer for the past 3 years at a trading, retail, and distribution company that specializes in auto parts, motorcycle parts, agricultural machinery parts, and lubricants (mostly local & global suppliers).
I recently created a list of procurement and sourcing services that I can offer, and I’d like to start doing project-based freelance work as a side hustle to earn extra income while keeping my regular 8–5 job.
For those already freelancing in procurement or supply chain, how did you get your first clients? Any tips on building a portfolio, finding projects, or avoiding common mistakes?
Thanks in advance!

I’m from the Philippines and have been working as a Procurement Officer for over three years in a small company. My work involves supplier sourcing, negotiating prices and contracts, handling local and international purchases, monitoring inventory and logistics, ensuring product quality, and negotiating payment terms with suppliers.
I’m looking to explore freelance opportunities that align with my procurement and supply chain experience. For those familiar with the industry, what freelance niches or services would be a good fit for someone with my background? Are there opportunities in procurement, sourcing, vendor management, supply chain support, or related fields?
I’m also open to learning new skills that can help me expand my career options. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hello!
I’m 27 years old and planning to apply for my first Pag-IBIG housing loan. I’ve been contributing for more than 24 months.
My regular salary is below ₱20k, but I also earn from small side businesses, although I can’t provide an ITR yet. I’m planning to loan around ₱3M–₱3.5M for a 300 sq.m house and lot near the city center with good long-term potential for multifamily rental development.
Do you think I still have a chance of getting approved? I’m also considering adding my parents as co-borrowers if needed for additional income capacity.
Would appreciate any advice or similar experiences. Thanks!
Hey everyone,
I’m based in a small city in the Philippines and currently involved in agri-supplies and motorcycle parts distribution. Lately, both have been struggling mainly because of the high dollar rate (we rely on imports), and our core customers (farmers and public transport drivers) are also getting hit hard by rising fuel prices.
On top of that, El Niño is coming, which will likely impact farming demand and productivity in our area.
I’m trying to pivot or explore business ideas that are more “energy-crisis-proof” and less dependent on imports, fuel, and weather-sensitive sectors. I have a few ideas in mind, but I’d really appreciate insights from others who’ve been in similar situations. I would also stay away in the F&B since its not that profitable here in our province.
What types of businesses have you seen remain stable or even grow during periods of high fuel prices, weak currency, and drought conditions—especially in smaller cities?
Appreciate any thoughts or experiences 🙏
