I really don't get the point - Specialist = 5 default classes

Q: Are regular classes obsoleted by the Specialist? Do they have something unique that the Specialist can't do?

A1: The Specialist has a Primary weapon slot and a Signature weapon slot, which is a selection of specific weapons. Whereas the Duelist, which kind of replaces the Gunner, has two Primary weapon--they're the only class that can use two rifles, so you can have like two Pulse Rifles. And that's what I'd find myself using, I would use the Classic Pulse Rifle because it's....sick... and the Romulus Pulse Rifle, because it's also sick. And that's the only class that can do that. So there's still some advantages to the specific classes I believe over Specialist while they can choose any Special Ability, any Perk, I think they are restricted when it comes to weapon options. I'm not sure about everything with that, I honestly haven't dived into the build system too much yet, but I don't think they're make other classes obsolete. I think a lot of players will just not want to deal with that and will want to pick a class.

  1. With Specialist being designed to be the "end game class" and how powerful it could be - considering he has access to every perk, ability, passive and weapon in the game - should I be worried that the other 5 classes will become irrelevant once I've reached max level with all of them and unlocked everything for the Specialist?

The Specialist's power comes from the other classes — it doesn't replace them. Throughout the game, you unlock abilities with each of the different classes. While those abilities are added to those classes, they're also unlocked by the Specialist. The other classes aren't dead ends — they're the source material. Your Specialist is only as good as what you've built across your Duelist, Machinist, Marauder, Hunter, and Medic progression. The Specialist class isn't replacing the other classes. It's part of your reward for mastering them. The more you master, the better the reward.

In Aliens Fireteam Elite 2, will co-op be peer to peer connections, or will Cold Iron and Daybreak have dedicated servers for co-op?

AFE2 will be peer-2-peer for co-op gameplay just as AFE was, with significant improvements. You’ll also be able to quick play campaign missions, horde mode or both on day one.

We know how frustrating it could be when the game loses connection just as the action is getting good. To address this, we have added improved features, including host migration and session rejoin. With host migration, if you’re playing on another host’s instance and he/she drops, then the host status migrates to one of the clients to continue the session. And with session rejoin, if you get dropped due to a bad connection, then you have the ability to rejoin the party. Additionally, this time we are launching cross-platform play to ensure all your friends can play together from day one of release.
