Nervous to donate AB plasma

The last time I donated blood was a few years ago, and I passed out and peed my pants shortly after sitting down and having my juice 🤦🏻‍♀️ I also have veins that can be hard to stick, so I always end up getting stabbed several times and the phlebotomists get frustrated.

I live in the biggest city of a very rural state, so I want to donate to the nonprofit that supplies to the local hospitals. I know how important donating plasma is due to my blood type (AB+), but I don’t want to pass out or get turned away because of my veins. Also, having a needle in each arm sounds awful and I’d want to be able to distract myself scrolling TikTok or something.

Does anyone have advice for setting myself up well for the appointment? Both physically and mentally?

It is Time to Demolish the Safety Silo | Corrie Pitzer

WORTH THE READ.

This article puts all of my feelings about this field into words. I work for a “zero injury” company as a safety specialist. My company is so congested with audits, metrics, permits, permits, and more permits. It’s pure brain rot, but I need the money.

Where are the companies operating on HOP?? It feels like many of us are starting to think this way, but the companies that are hiring aren’t. Or maybe I’m looking for a different kind of job?

If you work somewhere where safety is built into the system, rather than tagged on as a separate department, what is it like? Does it work as well as we think?

Would love to hear any thoughts on this topic. Do you agree or disagree with “demolishing” safety?

2 Karin Slaughter titles on hold at the library… what should I read in the meantime?

I just read Pretty Girls, and I loved it. I want more Karin!!! But I’m #23 and 31 in line for two of her other books 😭 None of her books are available that aren’t sequels in one of her series. I need something good while I wait.

Also recently liked Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and I who have never known men by Jacqueline Harpman (not a thriller, but excellent).

No supernatural/sci-fi or Frieda McFadden. I like a book that makes you think.

Everything I have in the “right” size stabs me, any advice or recommendations?

Hello! As the title says, everything with a wire stabs me painfully. My best fitting bra is the freya starlight in 34G. The gore tacks, nothing is spilling out, the band is snug, and my breasts fill the cups. My other bras in the same size by HSIA are the same.

I now have scars, yes SCARS, a few inches under my armpits right where the underwire sits. All the balcony style bras I have seen are very lacy and scratchy with the same underwire problem. I end up with red painful indents all over. I am back to wearing ill fitting sports bras that make me look huge because I can’t find anything softer.

The calculator gave me 34FF, but I am projected so trial and error got me to 34G/GG.

LU: 35
SU: 33
TU: 31
SB: 40
LB: 46
LyB: 41

If anyone knows of a softer bra that handles projection well, please let me know!!! I’m so glad we have pretty bras now but they are so uncomfortable. I don’t need pretty, I need to function.

Unreliable narrator + serial stalker + high school romance + generational trauma + jaw dropping ending = my favorite book

If you like cringing and silently screaming at a narrator, I have great news for you. There is another book with the same name by a different author, but this is one I haven’t seen anyone talking about! This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

The only thing I didn’t love about the book was the epilogue, so in my mind, the book ends at the last chapter. I like my stories satisfyingly unsatisfying. It’s a quick read, give it a try!
