WiP Corsairs! Finally making some progress

hey!

so a little while back I posted a WiP of a couple of corsairs saying I was having some trouble with the amount of detail on them and while theres been a heatwave in the Uk I’ve slowed down on painting so much! but really wanted to show off my progress

please excuse the pile of bad photos and lack of bases.

so far I have got(not everything is in these photos)

An Autarch wayleaper kitbash

a farseer(just from the kt box)

10 corsairs(two units of 5, with a Felarch each)

5 rangers (4 + one Ranger from the kt box)

5 banshees that are all classic metal models my friend gave me to have a go at painting

5 striking scorpions I kitbashed together from corsairs and rangers parts plus some chainswords I got online

I have had so much fun making these and really hope I can get more work done on them soon, it’s been a real struggle working out a scheme and painting them to a level I am happy with like I have in my mind but I can’t wait to actually finish a model. have so much left to do on them and I’ve been putting off the bases and gems but loving the experience.

List advice 1000pts for corsairs fun casual hobby project

hi so I know there are multiple lists being posted here a day at the minute but just wanted some advice on a list I’m building

I’m coming to 40k from necromunda, kill team space hulk and other smaller games and have mostly got this as a hobby project so care less about winning tournaments, just wanted a thematic goal to be striving toward that was at least viable against my sweatier friends

I have

Autarch wayleaper

farseer

corsair voidreavers x5 (pistol and sword)

corsair voidreavers x5 (rifles)

howling banshees x5

striking Scorpions x5

rangers x5

I also want to include some bikes and have a wave serpent my friend has offered me. I wanted to make the aspects very customised to look like Corsair units rather than just the standard kits, my banshees for example are all metal classic models that I have given some light kitbashing, my scorpions are made out of five corsairs and some more kitbashing(chainswords I ordered online amungs other details)

I am a huge fan of the corsairs and think they look great, will be getting some skyreavers and the bikes later in the year when I’ve finished some of what I have already. Also love the warp spiders and want to pick up a box with lykhis too

also want to have some drukhari units, the bikes I will be using will absolutely be reavers for example, I want to keep the space pirate theme strong mixing the two types Aeldari and drukhari as my Autarch is a kitbashed succubus

but I just wanted some advice on what to do with the list. should i run the swords and pistols as a brick of ten? Are the rifles obsolete?

again this is all for a very casual, fun and thematic hobby project so I don’t want it to be the perfect list or anything

Struggling to paint but love these minis and this faction so much!!

I have been really enjoying the corsairs and slowly working towards a list, I fell in love with them about a year ago and got myself the kill team box, loved building them but struggled painting as it’s been around 15 years since I last painted anything.

after three detol baths I finally got them to a level and scheme I didn’t hate but now I’m struggling again as I can’t help but see flaws in my painting ability. I know it’s a learning curve but I do a lot of non miniature painting so assumed i would be fine, however, watercolours, Inks and oils somehow are a lot more free and painting this many details on such a small mini is driving me crazy!!

I have been thinning paints down lots but unfortunately i have lost details with my detol baths and really don’t want to start again..

so far I have two units of 5 corsairs(split kill team box) a farseer, 5 rangers, 5 howling banshees from old metal models I found online and a Autarch wayleaper I kitbashed from a drukhari succubus. I am slowly building for 1000pts and want to add some reavers next to be stand in windriders(somehow feel they are more pirate than the standard models)

hoping for some feedback and pointers on how to improve and what to learn from my mistakes this far!! thanks for looking and appreciate any replies
