Help deciding on Eindhoven
Hi everyone,
I’m considering going to the Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering at TU/e, but I’m still quite undecided and trying to gather as much information as possible before making a decision. I’m currently researching different universities that i got into, so I’d love to hear some honest opinions from people who have first-hand experience with the program.
Some of the things I’m particularly curious about are:
- How would you rate the overall quality of the Electrical - Engineering bachelor’s program?
-What are the biggest strengths and weaknesses of the program?
- What are the professors and lecturers like? Are they generally open to students getting involved in additional projects, research, or other opportunities? Would you describe them as approachable and supportive, or more strict and formal?
- How difficult is the workload, and how much self-study is expected?
- What are the practical projects like? Do students get to build and design real systems, or is the program mostly theoretical?
- What are the labs like? Are they modern and well-equipped, and how often do students get hands-on experience?
- How much freedom is there to work on personal projects or explore areas that interest you?
- How does the program compare to other Electrical Engineering programs in the Netherlands or Europe?
I’m also very interested in extracurricular opportunities:
- What student teams, engineering competitions, or research projects can bachelor’s students join?
- I noticed that in Eindhoven there are many robotics/FRC teams, and participating in something like that would be a huge plus for me. Has anyone been involved with these teams, and what was the experience like?
- Are first-year students realistically able to join and contribute, or do these teams mainly consist of older students?
- How much support and funding do these student teams receive from the university?
Finally, I’m curious about future opportunities:
- How is the degree viewed by employers in the Netherlands and internationally?
- How is TU/e Electrical Engineering perceived when applying for master’s programs, both at TU/e and at other universities?
- Where do TU/e students usually go for masters?
- Did you feel well-prepared for industry, research, or graduate studies after completing the bachelor’s?
