Anyone currently living at Xior Zernikestraat? Looking for honest reviews on facilities.

I'm moving to Eindhoven and have an offer from Xior on Zernikestraat. I know the housing market here is brutal and options are limited, but after reading several negative reviews online and hearing mixed feedback from people who've lived in Xior properties, I’m feeling pretty skeptical.

If anyone currently lives at the Zernikestraat building (or recently moved out), I’d really appreciate an honest reality check on a few specific things:

Q1. What is the actual state of the rooms, heating, and Wi-Fi? Are the laundry facilities reliable, or is it a constant headache to get a machine?

Q2 How responsive is the local building manager when repairs are needed? Does stuff actually get fixed in a reasonable timeframe?

Q3 How secure is the building regarding bike storage, and main entrance doors?

Q4. Have you run into issues with unexpected service charges or end-of-year utility balancing?

Q5. How is the soundproofing between studios? Is it easy to meet people, or does everyone keep to themselves?

Given the prices they charge, I want to know if it's decent enough to live in out of necessity, or if the red flags are as bad as people claim.

Thanks in advance!

Admitted to EE, but stuck between TU/e and staying in France. Honest input on BSA and housing?

I'm 18, from France, admitted to the BSc Electrical Engineering starting this September (also got Applied Physics). I'm trying to decide whether to actually come, and I'd rather hear it straight from people who've been through the first year.

My background, so you can judge the level: French baccalauréat with highest honours, 16.44/20 overall. Maths and Physics as my specialisms, plus advanced maths. 17 in maths, 16 in physics, 20 in the oral exam. Cambridge C2 Proficiency in English. Outside school I design PCBs and program microcontrollers, I've got an active GitHub, and I did two internships at an open source software company doing code review and development. Long term I want to go into research, ideally a PhD in microelectronics, which is a big part of why Eindhoven appeals.

My problem is two things.

First, the BSA. I know it's 45 out of 60 credits, and the official figures say 63% continue to the second year in EE. For those of you who did it: what actually separates the people who make it from the ones who don't? Is it maths, workload management, language, something else? I'd rather know now than find out in April.

Second, housing, and this is the bigger one. The only place I could get is a 20m² room in a house shared with 5 other people, around 690 a month all in, on a 12 month contract. I viewed it and honestly it wasn't clean, and there's nowhere quiet to work. I keep reading that first year is heavy, and I'm not sure doing it from that room is realistic. My alternative in France is a selective 5 year engineering track with an integrated bachelor and master at Sorbonne where I'd live at home with no housing risk at all but im worried it is less suited to move to international research afterwards as my aim is to get a PhD in EE field to then work in r&d in a big semiconductor company. I could only do the bachelor in France at sorbonne and try to get a masters a TUE but im not sure the level is on par and i would be accepted.

So: is the housing situation genuinely that rough for first years, or did I just search badly and too late? And has anyone here done a French or other European bachelor and come to TU/e for the master instead? I'm trying to work out whether arriving later is a real option or a way of talking myself out of it.

Thanks for any honest answers, including the discouraging ones.

Sorry this is a little silly but I don't really know how to formulate it .

Numerus Fixus for Mechanical Engineering

Hello,
I would like to know
That if only 500 people can be enrolled for Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering in TU/e
And if the highest ranking number that received an offer was #938.

I wanted to know how many people participated (like 1,000 or 2,500)
Is there any source?
I can only find that only 1,100 people participated, but that is Gemini.

Please let me know.
Thanks for reading.

When did you start looking for housing, and when did you actually find a place?

Hi, I'm an international (EU) high school student who'll apply to a Numerus Fixus program (TU/e) in January and I was wondering about your experience with finding accommodation.
For those who found a room/studio/apartment:

  1. When did you start registering to housing websites?
  2. When did you start actively applying?
  3. How long did it take to find a place?
  4. Were you able to find accommodation in your preferred area? (if not, did the additional costs of daily commuting affect your expenses drastically?)
  5. What kind of housing did you end up with? (shared apartment, solo studio or something different?)
This post is mainly for international BSc students, although anyone with relevant info is appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

Previous education

Yo so I just did my cie a levels and I need to submit it for tu/e to verify it. Does anybody know if uploading a screenshot of my grades from the official results website is enough in the section its asking for a digital certificate? Does it have to be stamped by my school? What happens if I upload it and its not enough, or if I wanna modify it later?

BSN

Hi everyone!

I’m an incoming international student at TU/e without a registered address yet, and I was wondering if anyone could share how to get an RNI appointment to receive a BSN number, whether that is actually possible in my situation, and how the process works if you're still looking for housing during the first few weeks?

Thanks a lot for any help!

Is TU Delft worth a GRE retake compared with TU/e or University of Twente?

I’m planning to apply for a Master’s in the Netherlands in the computer engineering/embedded systems area and I’m currently stuck between two options.

I recently took the GRE and scored 160Q / 150V. TU Delft’s requirements for the program I’m interested in mention a higher GRE score, so I’m unsure whether I should retake it.

The alternative would be to skip the retake and apply to universities such as TU Eindhoven (TU/e) or University of Twente, which offer similar programs without the GRE requirement.

From what I’ve researched, TU Delft seems to have a stronger global reputation, but TU/e also appears to have very strong industry connections, particularly in the semiconductor/high-tech sector.

For someone interested in computer science and embedded systems and potentially working in the Netherlands after graduation, how significant is the difference between TU Delft and TU/e/Twente?

Specifically:

- Is TU Delft's reputation/degree worth spending the extra time and money on another GRE attempt?

- Would graduating from TU/e or Twente put me at a significant disadvantage for jobs or future PhD opportunities?

- If you were in my position, would you retake the GRE or focus on strengthening the rest of your applications?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from current students, alumni, or people familiar with hiring in the Dutch tech industry.

Internship opportunities in Eindhoven after CS bachelor’s at TU/e

Hi everyone,
I’ve recently secured a place in Computer Science at TU/e and I’m curious about what the internship landscape in Eindhoven looks like after completing the bachelor’s.

  • How easy is it to find internships locally in

Eindhoven?

  • For non‑EU students, are there any specific challenges with securing internships (like visa rules, company preferences, etc.)?
  • Which companies or sectors are most active in hiring CS interns around Eindhoven?

I’d love to hear from current students or alumni about their experiences and advice. Thanks in advance!

Bachelor Schedules?

Hey everyone, I'm an incoming chemE major and was wondering if any other first year had their schedule. I haven't gotten mine just yet. Also, does TU/e accept AP credits for classes like, say, Calc 1 and 2???? Thanks

Is this manageable financially over two years?

I (22M) am an International Masters student joining TU Eindhoven this August. I've gotten a studio, bathroom and kitchen included near campus.. at 1150 euros a month! 🙃😶

It is eligible for housing allowance (it's under 900 euros base rent, so that's what will be used for the calculation if I'm right), and the rent covers utilities and internet as well. Is this financially feasible over two years? Or should I start looking for other places after a year? I don't think I'll need public transport, the location is just next to campus.

Is Automotive Technology worth it?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering applying for the Bachelor’s in Automotive Technology at TU/e, and I’d love to hear from people who are studying it or have already graduated.

Do you think the program is worth it? What are its biggest strengths and weaknesses?

I’m particularly curious about:

  • The quality of the education
  • Internship and job opportunities
  • Industry connections
  • Whether the program is more mechanical- or software/electronics-focused
  • Your overall experience

I’d really appreciate any honest opinions. Thanks!

How much does it cost y'all to live per month in Eindhoven?

I was thinking abt doing my Msc at TuE for a while now. However idk abt the costs of living in Eindhoven as Ik The Netherlands in itself is pretty expensive and I wouldn't want to take out student loans.

Tbh if I go I do plan to take up a part time job and my parents would give me abt 700 euros a month to live. (I am an EU citizen so work permits are not an issue, I would qualify for DUO however not for the bonus grant, just the basic one which is abt 350 euros a month) All in all my budget would be like 1.3k a month or smth like that

Now those would be the plans however that is just some research I did so I was wondering abt students who actually live there and work there part time that is why I am writing this.

Also idk if it matters or how much cheaper it would be but I do plan to split my housing with a friend (CAN ALSO DO SOLO IF IT'S CHEAPER) who would also go there and I'd live mostly conservatively and I'dlike to try to secure an apprtment as soon as I get accepted so I can maybe get it cheaper. I don't rly go crazy on expenses maybe 200 euros a month on leisure like going out and some new clothes or whatever, but besides that I don't expect to pay a lot on stuff like groceries or whatever I don't rly eat a lot but I cook at home.

So in conclusion I'd like to know, for students living there, how much does it cost y'all a month? For those with part time jobs do you manage to balance them and studies well or jow hard is it?

Also how hard is it to find a job in the first place is it crazy hard or is it relatively easy for students how long did it take y'all?

How is TU/e Computer Science for a Bachelor’s?

Hey everyone,
I recently got selected for Computer Science at TU/e and I’m curious about how the program is overall.

  • How has your experience been with CS at TU/e?
  • For non‑EU international students, what challenges or positives have you faced (academics, social life, administration, etc.)?
  • Anything you wish you had known before starting?

(I’ve already secured housing, so no worries on that front.)

Would love to hear honest experiences and advice from current or past students. Thanks!
