Jotel Oslo 500 stove pipe cleaning approach?

Hello everyone. I just bought one of those flexible chimney pipe cleaning brushes that attaches to a drill with plastic bristles.

I believe that I have a telescoping double wall chimney that connects the stove to the rest of the chimney pipe.

Is it easiest to disconnect the telescoping section, slide it up, then clean from the bottom going up?

Or does Jotel have a special way to do it from inside the firebox with minimal removal of parts?

For those who have Jotels, what is your favored approach?

Overgrown Red Twig Dogwood waiting for Autumn planting.

Hi everyone,

My wife and I bought 23 dogwood shrubs in mid spring and missed our window to plant in late Spring. Our plan now is to plant them in the Fall around early to mid September since we are in zone 5.

These shrubs absolutely suck up water since they get full sun for at least 6-8 hours of the day. I water them once in the morning, and a second time in the afternoon to keep them from drying out and flopping over on the ground.

My concern is that when we plant them in the fall, there will be too much vegetative growth and an overly compacted root ball that may not root in time for winter.

One option I thought of to make life easier is to move them to a spot that gets 2-3 hours of morning sun on the side of my garage. I could then use irrigation drip lines to water them twice per day until we are ready to plant.

If the roots are heavily girdled, I read that I can “box” cut four sides off the cylindrical shape to promote a successful root system per some literature from Michigan university.

My question for you guys:

Should/ can I cut any current growth back to slow these things down and to reduce the watering needs? Would it hurt the plants if I did that now?

I plan to take LOTS of dormant cuttings in later winter to propagate a large amount of new shrubs, but I’m worried that these plants are currently too stressed now do to their large size and small containers. My goal is to ensure they survive and are healthy going into the winter.

I threw my back out, so putting them in the ground now isn’t an easy option currently. We also have lots of grass to kill and I plan to solarize the grassy areas where they will go, before we dig holes for the shrubs, themselves.

Unable to fully insert key into seat lock.

Hey everyone, I’m having a bit of an issue getting the key to fully seat into the lock. It slides into the ignition like butter, but seems to just fall short of full insertion under the seat.

I gave a couple light taps with a plastic hammer, and it didn’t budge further.

I’m thinking it could have been a piece of gravel or something stuck in there as a possibility.

What are some of the best ways to clear it out?

Quick shifter disconnecting

I have a 2024 XSR900 and the quick shift has disconnected twice. Luckily, I had an Allen wrench to reconnect it after pulling over, but it’s a pain and I would rather have it not slip off again after another hundred miles.

I have blue thread lock that I plan to use for the bolt, but, I have to ask: is there supposed to be a nut backing this bolt and where should I use the thread lock to make it most effective?
