How to read width on a Brannock Device?

I’ve got weird feet, and finally purchased a Brannock Device to try and get some measurements to get an idea of why my footwear always seems to fit weird, esp on my right foot.

First thing I noticed is that my right foot is almost a full size bigger than my left, and also I’ve got short toes lol (which explains why 13s feel more comfortable but I have lots of toe room).

I feel stupid reading width though. Whether I use 11.5 or 13, it says my feet are narrow, but I know for sure I am at minimum a D and sometimes an E in shoes.

For example, in Allen Edmonds Carlyle shoes I am an 11.5/12 E. In Adidas Sambas my right foot is a 13/13.5, and in Brooks running shoes my right foot is a 12.5/13 D.

Am I just reading the scale wrong? Or am
I missing something obvious?

Also, is it better to go by arch or by length, or in between?

Are Allen Edmonds black Carlyle’s ever TOO formal for corporate client meetings?

I work in retirement for a known financial company as a client service manager (the primary day to day contact for a company with their company retirement plan at our company).

My book of business is ’boots and suits,’ about half manufacturing clients and half law firms.

I generally meet with some of my clients in person at Committee Meetings (which will include C Suite folks) a handful of times a year, and I also get sent out on sales finals as well.

I either wear a full navy suit with white shirt, or grey suit pants with a blue blazer and white shirt to these meetings, almost never a tie.

I currently have a pair of black Carlyle AEs in size 11.5 E that I bought for my wedding.

Ive been looking at a pair of potential toe cap dress shoes like Beckett and Simonon Dean oxfords or the AE Park Ave, but they aren’t cheap and I wonder if the Carlyles are just fine or would ever be considered TOO formal.

Im additionally worried about the toe caps looking big on me cause I have big ole feet for my size (5’10”, 175 pounds, usually a size 12.5-13 in sneakers).

Should I just keep the Carlyle’s and consider getting a pair in brown next year for a more casual look, or grab a pair of black toe caps for my more blue collar clients?

Recommendation for fitted waterproof case for tubing/kayaking?

I like to take pictures and videos while tubing and kayaking on local rivers, and I’d like a case that is waterproof with some sort of tether I could attach a lanyard to.

I don’t want any of the bag cases (not worried about floating) because it’s often to difficult to actually use the phone.
