I Got Tired of Missing Deliveries, So I Built This

My apartment buzzer was driving me insane, so I built something to fix it.

Most apartment intercoms only call one phone number. If you're in the shower, on a work call, out running errands, or simply miss the call, your delivery gets left outside, your guests are stuck waiting, or your roommate is texting you because they forgot their fob.

So I built Protobuzz. It works with your existing apartment buzzer and lets multiple people receive buzz notifications, remotely let people in, and create temporary access for guests, cleaners, or dog walkers.

It started as a way to stop my own deliveries from disappearing, but it's grown into something that's helping other renters too.

If your apartment buzzer is more frustrating than helpful, check out Protobuzz. There's a free tier with unlimited usage, and I'd love to hear your feedback!

Does anyone here have a unit with this type of in-suite intercom unit?

Does anyone here have a unit with an IS-489 in-suite intercom unit (or similar)?

We're a startup working on a prototype to retrofit this buzzer with a phone-based version and would like to run some tests and debug on one of these units. If you have access to this type of unit, please reach out to me! You will definitely be compensated for your time and access.

I never realized how bad some apartment/condo buzzer systems were until I started ordering food more often. Half the time the system only calls one phone number, calls fail randomly, or people miss the buzz for like 20 seconds and the driver has already moved on.

Feels like delivery apps improved a ton over the years but condo entry systems are still stuck in another decade. Curious how drivers feel about downtown condo deliveries compared to houses.
