CA TM Paid Family Leave in conjunction to state EDD benefits, has anyone been able to use both?

I'm a CA tm filing for the company Paid Parental Leave, and I was just told by Sedgewick that my claim was approved pending confirmation from the state through EDD. I was under the impression that company PFL and state PFL were two separate resources, and that I would be able to stack said resources. It seem illegal that WFM should have a say in how I use my state resources. As it stands, Whole Foods will subsidize my paid family leave with the state EDD leave, and just cover the difference between what EDD gives me and 100% of my pay. So if the state gives me 80% of my pay, whole foods will cover the remaining 20% for 6 weeks.

I was hoping to use 100% whole foods paid family leave for 6 weeks

Then file for the state for another 6 weeks (12 weeks total per the job protected family leave in California) at about 80-90% of my regular pay.

Has anyone successfully stacked both resources and if so, what's the right way to go about it?

I just want to be able to be at home with my wife for as long as possible and help with our newborn.

The slop bar, uhm I mean Hot Bar.

Heyooo. Your favorite Whole Foods insider here. Just wanna let y’all know this “food” bar is highly processed slop that ships to us in a bag. Minimal preparation required. In an effort to justify cutting labor costs, the corpos at Whole Foods Amazon decided to cut back on actual cooks. There’s hardly any real cooking going on in BOH. Employees receive up to 35% on all hot bar food and they STILL end up throwing most of it away. That’s just how terrible this slop is.

Tips on how to pushback on team/store leadership pushing you to do more, at the expense of your own personal wellbeing.

It seems like my store leadership thinks it’s okay to keep all teams understaffed. They probably boost their bonuses that way and keep labor margins in the green. They think it’s okay to have 1 closer in grocery close a store by themselves, at a very busy 35,000 sq ft location. Any tips on how to defend oneself from the constant push to do more?

“Manage your time”

When your manager (manager, not a real leader) tells you to manage your time that means work as fast as possible 100% of the time. Never mind your aching body when you go home. “You’re here to give me your best performance all the time.” What a joke, we don’t even get 5% raises anymore. Idk why anyone is doing this grocery department job for less than $25 an hour. They’re really pumping us for profit.
