When Desire Can't Speak: Moonlight, Challengers, and Authentic Affection

This is a video essay comparing Challengers and Moonlight, examining how both films portray desire that cannot be expressed directly. Although their characters inhabit radically different worlds, each film uses silence, physical intimacy, competition, and repression to explore the distance between what people feel and what they are capable of saying.

I’d be interested to hear whether the comparison works—and how others interpret the role of unspoken affection in either film.
