Art and Commerce

[vent] I know a job becomes a job no matter the profession. And it’s a privilege to have a job in a creative industry, especially right now.

But anyone else kind of lost the drive, or can’t even enjoy or appreciate art and animation outside of work or at work any more? It’s been like nearly five years since I cared so deeply or was excited about animation.

I don’t know if it’s just from stress or burn out, or maybe I’ve grown out of love for animation and film a long time ago. Maybe I just suck at my job. (Again, this would be the same in any job, but at least I can know for certain I’ll be employed the next year) I’m dreading having to forever chase contracts for jobs i just don’t give a shit about.

I don’t know anyone who’s left this industry, but I want to know if anyone else has lost their will to stay, or maybe feels trapped?

*edit: this is a vent from a burnt out 10+ yoe asshole whining about their employment, who at the core has no regrets. You’re allowed to change your mind later in life as long as you grow, so take a chance on your passions.

Mid Life Career Change or Love/Family?

Hi,
So I (34f) know I have messed up my life, and need maybe a soundboard for some guidance. Or, if anyone else has went a similar journey.

I’ve dedicated most of my life to a niche career, and the skills may only transfer well to another risky industry.
I am taking courses to pivot into a masters that won’t require a related undergrad, but I’m afraid I won’t have the necessary letters required. But most importantly, I’m foolish enough to want to date again and find someone who may want to start a family either during or after my masters/ career pivot.

This is all sounding a mess I know. What man would want to start a family with a 34f who’s not in a stable career.

Should I focus on building a family first, and then a career pivot? Or just focus on surviving by myself and forget about family?

Irrelevant, but: no kids, never married, no debt, have liquid funds for education, lots of EI banked.
