FREE weekend camp for grieving kids (7-17) - August 14-17, Brookline NH

Hi all! I am a vounteer with Comfort Zone Camp (a 501c3 that provides FREE weekend summer camps for kids (7-17) who have expereinced the loss of a parent/caregiver/sibling. Posting, and excited to share, that we're expanding our program in New Hampshire - August 14-17 at Camp Tevya (Brookline).

At a glance:

  • Campers arrive 4:00 on Friday (8/14) and leave around 3:00 on Sunday (8/17).
  • Campers are matched 1:1 with a "big buddy" mentory who is their support system for the weekend.
  • Camp is always 100% FREE to campers, with transportation scholarships available to those who need them.
  • Campers do "normal" camp things (s'mores, challenge courses, songs/games) while also attending "healing circles" (small group sessions run by LCSWs where kids can talk about their loss).

Why "grief camp" is important:

  • Most kids who have experienced a loss have not met another kid "like them" - at CZC campers learn they're not alone.
  • Campers can keep coming back year after year. Greif changes as kids get older, and CZC is a safe space for them to return to at any point in their grief journey.

You can find more informaiton about camp/how to register here: https://comfortzonecamp.org/event/new-hampshire-weekend-camp-programs-for-ages-7-17/

If this post does not apply to you/your family - please consider helping us spread the word (share about CZC with your pediatricians, physcial therapists, school cousnelor freinds.. etc). The biggest barrier to getting kids to camp is them not knowing we exist!

FREE weekend camp for grieving kids (7-17) - August 14-17, Brookline

Hi all! I'm a volunteer with Comfort Zone Camp, a 501(c)(3) that has provided free weekend camps for grieving kids since 1998 — serving more than 26,000 children across the country. Excited to share that we're expanding to New Hampshire this August: August 14–16 at Camp Tevya in Brookline. This will be CZC's third active camp in New England.

The program serves kids ages 7–17 (or 18, if still in high school) who have experienced the loss of a parent, guardian, sibling, or friend. In New Hampshire alone, 1 in 12 children will lose a parent or sibling before turning 18 — and 97% of teachers say unaddressed grief interferes with learning. CZC exists to reach those kids early.

At a glance

  • Campers arrive Friday (8/14) at 4:00 p.m. and head home Sunday (8/16) around 3:00 p.m.
  • Each camper is matched 1:1 with a "big buddy" mentor who is their support system for the weekend.
  • Camp is always 100% free, with transportation scholarships available for those who need them.
  • Campers do normal camp things (s'mores, challenge courses, songs and games) while also attending "healing circles" — small group sessions run by LCSWs where kids can talk about their loss.

Why grief camp matters

  • Most kids who have experienced a loss have never met another kid like them. At CZC, campers learn they're not alone.
  • Campers can return year after year. Grief changes as kids get older, and CZC is a safe space to come back to at any point in the journey.
