Moved potted outdoor plant and heard a ripping sound.

I’m in Oregon and have three outdoor plants going this summer, all in 25-gallon pots. One of them is just over 6 feet tall and looking absolutely beautiful. The other two are just as healthy and beautiful, but not quite as tall.

The 6-foot plant was starting to get slightly shaded by a very tall fir tree across the property, so I decided to “slide” the pot over a little. Unfortunately, I quickly heard a ripping sound and realized the roots had grown through the drainage holes and into the ground.

The plant is just shy of going into flower. My question is: will it be okay? I assume I’ll lose some leaves from the stress, but should I still expect it to flower normally? I’m especially concerned because some of the roots I pulled out of the ground after moving the plant are shown in the picture, and they definitely aren’t small.

Any advice on what I should expect or do from here would be greatly appreciated!

I know the pots I used are not the correct ones to be using for this exact reason.

Remodeling office/bedroom

I’m remodeling my office/bedroom and have a question about removing a closet. I’ve been trying to determine whether the wall is load-bearing or not.

I accessed the attic space above the room and found that there is no wall directly above the closet. I also measured the approximate span of the room from the attic, as shown in the photos.

Based on what you can see, does this appear to be a load-bearing wall, or is it likely just a framed partition for the closet?

Flight Home Concern

On our flight to Hawaii, we were bumped out of the first-class seats we purchased five months in advance because the aircraft was changed to a smaller plane with one fewer row of first class seats. The frustrating part is that we weren't even booked in the last row of first class, so someone else ended up with seats that should have been ours.

My concern is our return flight home. Since we're not booked in the last row of first class, I'm worried the same thing could happen again if there's another aircraft change.

Do you think it's worth calling Alaska Airlines ahead of time to make sure we won't be bumped if that situation happens again, or is it unlikely to make any difference?

Two first class seats taken away at gate

My wife and I flew from PDX to Seattle in first class, which we paid and booked for months ago. When we arrived in Seattle and were waiting at the gate to board our flight to Hawaii—a flight of just over six hours—we were unexpectedly called to the front desk and informed that our first-class seats were no longer available.

We booked these seats nearly five months in advance, so this came as a complete surprise. We have now been reassigned to coach for the flight. Needless to say, we're disappointed and frustrated, especially since our vacation is starting with an issue we never expected after planning so far ahead.

We were really looking forward to the experience we paid for, and it's unfortunate that our trip is beginning this way.

Thank you all.
