For current architects in the uk

what does the realistic career progression and salary look like from Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, 5–10 years after qualification? I’m currently 17 and seriously considering architecture however have read horror stories about the pay grade and salary’s and it is truly scared me, this is coming from someone who just wants to be comfortable and financially stable when they are older. I don’t expect to earn loads while training, and I’m completely willing to work my way up, but long-term financial stability is important to me. I’d want to be around £40–50k by my 30s. So I came to ask is that a realistic target? if you make sensible career moves, gain experience and progress into more senior roles? How much will your salary increase as you gain experience, and what would you recommend doing early in your career to maximise progression?

Truth be told I’m just really scared regarding financial stability as I come from a household where I know money is sometimes tight, and I want to be stable when I grow up, but also want to pursue a career I will actually enjoy.

Advice on building an architecture portfolio before Year 13 (UK)

I’m a Year 12 student in the UK hoping to study Architecture next year. I take A-Level Art, Photography and Criminology (I don’t take A-Level Maths). Up until recently I was planning to go into concept art, so my portfolio currently contains things like Blender 3D modelling, SketchUp, concept art, art coursework and photography. I was recently accepted onto the Drawing Matter Architecture Summer School 2026, which has made me even more interested in pursuing architecture.
I’m using my six-week summer holiday to start building an architecture portfolio before Year 13, but I’m honestly not sure where to begin. If you were starting an architecture portfolio from scratch, what would you spend the next six weeks doing? What kinds of sketchbook pages, projects or exercises actually helped you get into architecture school in the UK? Thank you.

Please help

I’m 17. I’ve had muscle twitching in my legs for over a month. My right hamstring has now been twitching almost continuously since about 2 a.m., and it’s still going at 4 p.m. It kept me awake all night. The twitching started after a pyrometric session at the gym however what i don’t understand is how they’ve been going for over a month straight and they only appear to be in my right hamstring. At first it only use to happen while I was sitting down but now no position changes it all and it remains constant. Please are there any solutions to this.

Regarding Mike and Fiona.

I honestly despise Fiona for the way she treated Mike, why did she do this? I don’t care for her silly self destructiveness she’s a grown woman who ruined something so good she had going for her Mike deserved better.

That’s all.
