Hello. My best friend just lost her save file. She is currently playing on the steam version of the current standard build of vampire survivors. She has tried multiple save editors in an attempt to recover her save, but none of the ones she has tried have been able to do what she wanted. She currently doesn’t have a Poncle account set up for backups. She has also tried both the in game and steam cloud methods, both of which didn’t work to her satisfaction. She keeps talking about how she would prefer a tool that syncs with her achievements but I don’t know if that exists, especially in conjunction with a tool which gives her a rough coin estimate. On top of that, I would prefer one that wouldn’t cause issues with a poncle account if she makes one in the future. Thank you for reading I hope you can help her

When I was a kid, I had a very stupid rule that I would never play any video games without the ability to jump. I remember my cousins jumping in each game before handing me the controller in hopes it will get me to enjoy it more, and being a late bloomer to many franchises simpally because they didnt have a jump button. I aged out of it as a kid, but as an adult, i figured out that I was not only correct but wasnt loud enough in my cause.
Basically, every time a game doesn't have the option to jump, unless its for a specific artistic reason, I feel like it points to a severe lack of imagination and care.
First off, jumping is a very fun stim. As someone who usually gets bored during hallways, its just fun to have a button to do things. I feel like my time with valve games for instance were heavily enhanced by the jump button as I could focus more on the actual words of each cutscene cause my fingers were occupied. I especially love when it is added seemingly for this purpose in non jumpy games like the modern atelier games or xenoblade. It really rounds out the experience and makes the slow moments seem special.
Second off, I feel like the lack of jump usually points to the game being designed around a single all encompassing play style, often of which isn't fun. When theres no jump in shooters, I find myself less likely to want to explore, or flank, or do anyhting which would involve movement, which just slows the game to a hault.
Third off, every single genre is made significantly better with jumping. I feel like first person shooters for instance have peaked with the recent wave of movement shooters, nothing will match the charm of chaining walljumps, double jumps and grapples in the modern doom games or ultrakill. I feel like Mina the hollower would not be as fun if it wasn't for its little jumping puzzles and hallowing attacks between combat zones, proving in the process that there was no excuse for not jumping in a top down setting.. Turn based strategy peaked with mario rabbids, where you can effectively create wide radius's with a couple effective team jumps. Heck, games where not jumping is the point are more fun with jumping. Look at Little Taxi go Vroom, Mario Kart World's parkour system, literally any racing game with ramps, the ability to go airborn leads to its most chaotic moments.
AND THE THING IS, I KEEP ON GETTING DUPED. A GAME COMES ALONG TELLING ME THAT ITS GREAT< BUT IT IS GROUND SLOP. YOUR CHARACTER WON'T EVEN RUN CAuSE ITS TOO CLOSE TO AIRBORN, BUT LIKE. NO. GET IN THE AIR. EVEN THE MOST SIMPLE GAMES CAN FULFILL THE FANTASY OF BEING ABLE TO JUMP CONSISTENTLY, SOMETHING I COULDN"T DO AFTER MY FUCKING LEG WENT TO SHIT, BUT INSTEAD IT GOES OUT OF ITS WAY TO BE SILLY GROUND SLOP, SHOW OFF THE CREATORS LACK OF CARE, GROUNDSLOP IS JUST TEDIOUS. IT MAKES ME WANT TO JUMP OFF A BUILDING, BUT I CAN"T CAUSE I AM SHACKLED TO THE GROUND AND HELD IN BY A GAGGLE OF BRIGHT YELLOW CALF HIGH WALLS
Deltarune chapter 5 mechanical spoilers ahead
I just finished deltarune chapter 5, and found myself deeply in love with its unique gameplay style, most notably its 2d segments, the switching from the rpgmaker perspective to 2d, and the coordination of your p and s actions in the middle of side scrolling combat. I think it is a very interesting gameplay style and I want to find something that fulfills that specific 2d non 2d itch, preferably changing between both in the same puzzle or combat encounter seamlessly
For the sidescroller x non sidescroller part, I have played Super Mario Odyssey. And while I love the little 2d mini levels, I simultaneously feel like it doesn’t scratch that itch, and like I don’t want to replay a game I associate soo closely with a lonely period of my life. I have also played a link between worlds, and while it is my favorite Zelda game, I don’t wan to replay it for similar reasons (tho I want a second game with that gimmick link between worlds is super special). I know about the existence of fez but I found myself dropping it every time I played it. While it fills a very different gameplay itch, I also am deeply in love with Toem, a photography puzzle game in which you explore a fixed perspective world and solve puzzles by taking photos in first person. Really fun game but again it doesn’t fulfill my action game itch
For the side scrolling rpg side of things, I am a big fan of the 2d castlevanias. Portrait of ruin was my favorite game as a kid, and I would love something that fulfills that vibe. That being said I don’t know how well it replicates the actions. I feel like the closest match to the gameplay I have found is the 2d Rayman Murphy levels. The only other thing I can think of that scratches this itch of games based around movement and simple action phases for me is xenoblade 2 combat, but it’s my only completed xenoblade so idk how I feel about replaying 2
On the side scrolling bullet hell side of things, I am a huge fan of both garbanzo quest and Rabi Ribi, 2 games which are built around being 2 side scrolling bullet hells. That being said both games are in 2d alone, this isn’t what I’m looking for, tho I wouldn’t be opposed for reccomendations for 2d sidescrollers.
I have access to a switch 2, a pc, and a seldom used steam deck. I prefer playing games on mouse and keyboard, or an arcade stick due to hand cramping issues, so native rebinding is a must. I have a preference for games under 20 hours, but as my base game is an rpg, I would be cool with something longer. I have a preference for indie games. Gameplay is significantly more important than story here, but a game with a great story wouldn’t hurt. I have already played baulders gate 3.
