Wallpaper Paste Encapsulation with Gardz (or Kils???) In a Bathroom
Over the years, I've tore off wallpaper and scrubbed off the paste and then hit it all with Kils. Never had an issue. This time, I had a customer with very heavy commercial wallpaper in a bathroom. I decided to rip out the drywall and redo the drywall. Anyway, around the ceiling and at the bottom row of tile, I left a 6" lip of the old drywall and intent to tie the new drywall into that.
Problem is, I need to get the paste off that 6" lip or burry it I am thinking it is best to coat it with Gardz and then skim over the entire joint with 2-3 coats of 20 or 45 min hot mud. It is in a bathroom so I do not want the paste to reactivate. Suggestions?
