What do you guys think about the possibility of Jeyda getting eliminated in an unconventional fashion, like a winning team elim or ejection? I mean she could have easily been the first boot and even though the red team had a good second service she was still highlighted to make mistakes. Also the fact that the edit is going out of its way to put such a bad light on her and framing her as a sort of donkey with how much they’re really zeroing in on all of her antics and mistakes leads me to believe something crazy will happen involving her. It just doesn’t feel right for her to go out in the standard red-team-lost-service-and-she-was-nominated-and-eliminated way.

I can’t be the only person who’s thinks this??? Seriously, what was she even doing there? I mean I know we never got a real chance to see her abilities but I always thought she didn’t belong on that kind of show LMAO.

Throughout the 15 1/2 seasons of MasterChef, there have been a lot of contestants who were either terrible from start to finish, or had some sort of a downfall that lasted multiple episodes.

However, not as often do we see contestants who weren’t just floating in the middle, but were dominant throughout, winning challenges and whatnot, but then all of a sudden they COMPLETELY crash and burn one episode, which led to their subsequent elimination.

So what do you think? Who’s a contestant (or contestants) that had a really great run early on but then completely crashed and burned?

CRITERIA: It can’t be like a “downfall”, which in my definition lasts more than one episode, like for example, Bri (S10). It has to be like they were good all season and then ONE random meltdown.

If you can’t tell from the photo, one notable person that I immediately think of is Anna (S14), who had two consecutive wins, seeming like a favorite to win early on, but then produced a cake SO BAD that it forced a double elimination!

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit: it may be my own bias showing as I am a fellow Gen Z-er. But still, I actually really enjoyed Murt’s time on the show and consider him one of the most improved contestants and characters in the show’s history.

Murt started off pretty cocky… okay, he started off VERY cocky. While he definitely wasn’t vile or anything, he was pretty arrogant and douche-y at the beginning, especially with his comment towards the boomers. But I found it funny, as I knew he would get his ego put in check. And the fact that he was so young (27) at the time meant he would be a lot more teachable and moldable than say a Gen X who was stuck in their ways.

After having an overall great audition dish, meriting an apron, his first challenge was a mess. The actual idea of his mango curry with the green tea rice honestly sounded pretty good but he lacked the execution. Maybe he was right when he said maybe friends/family that said it was good were lying lol. But you can tell during his critique that he was humble, and he took the criticisms like a champ.

Throughout the competition, while still having some downs, he definitely showed improvement in not only his cooking, but his character. His cooking definitely had a huge improvement and was even in the top I think 3 times if I remember correctly. His attitude was a lot more level-headed and overall had a great face turn.

You could tell when he ended up in the bottom the first time that it humbled him fast, as he wasn’t anywhere near as bad as in his premiere even in the next episode.

You also have to give the Gen Z’s some grace as because they are younger, of course they’re probably gonna have their immature moments and do or say things they might regret later. Thats life. To me it’s way different than if for example a 40-year-old man like Mark (S8) acted that way.

But yeah, from being a cocky asshole form the start, getting humbled fast, and having a vast improvement both personality and cooking wise, Murt has become one of my favorite contestants on the show for how much he grew during the show.

Christian is objectively the least favorite contestant of season 2 by default due to the obvious reasons, but to be honest I actually found Suzy INFINITELY more insufferable, and this is why.

Even though Christian was definitely arrogant and even a complete douche and asshole sometimes — especially during his confrontations with the judges — at least they made for some all-time great TV moments of him getting humbled.

Also, even though he was cocky he was a very good cook, only having like one bottom appearance (in the top 5 when literally 4 people did badly), and deserved to make it as far as he did cooking wise, while the top 2 in Adrien and Jennifer were far more inconsistent.. I even consider them the worst top 2 ever because of that.

However, unlike her counterpart where his moments at least made great TV, Suzy’s moments were just flat-out cringe. Her getting upset every time someone other than her won something became super annoying, like dude, you can’t win EVERYTHING. Especially when she talked down on Christine when she had a great pork rib dish and was like “when you make pork belly then I’ll be impressed”, only to then serve a HORRIBLE pork belly dish.

Speaking of which, whenever the judges criticized her food she would always put her hand on her heart and/or act like she was personally offended or attacked, cause she thought she was so amazing. I was even on Max’s side when they had their mini feud/rivalry.

Also I just found her voice INSANELY irritating…

You can also copy and paste what I said about Christian to Max and I even consider him the absolute least of the problems this season. I think the contestants over-hated him just because of his age even though he did prove early on that he was a very good cook. And his crepes (while they were terrible) was just another unfortunate excuse for them to use him as a scapegoat to hate.

Everybody who’s heard of MasterChef knows of the iconic all-time bad cooks, including, but not limited to:

Slim (S1), Tali (S3), Sasha (S4), Howard (S4), Astrid (S5), Cutter (S5), and Mark (S8).

But what about other contestants who, for various reasons, aren’t remembered as much by fans but were still horrible cooks? A lot of this is common in first/early boots as they didn’t have as many chances to screw up as people like Tali who made it far, and if you only last one episode, unless you made like an all-time bad dish, you won’t be as remembered.

So what do you guys think? Who are some contestants that you think are downright awful that not many people talk about, besides the obvious and iconic cooks everyone knows about?

I love Jennifer a lot especially with her hating Christian, but based on stats alone she’s by far the worst winner.

Throughout her run, she was extremely inconsistent overall, getting super lucky to have had shining moments occasionally, such as her lobster dish and her catfish dish (both in the same episode Joe lashed out on Christian for not listening).

She could have easily gone home on multiple occasions, but was saved due to someone doing worse or even that one time where the format of the show saved her, as she was called out during a Mystery Box challenge for her lamb being raw.

And when I say that lamb was raw, it was COMPLETELY RAW. Like Joe’s reaction was completely justified because how can you put something that raw on the plate? It was barely even kissed on all sides in the pan, with Joe even threatening to eliminate her on the spot. Just imagine if she did that the subsequent season where there WAS a mystery box elimination…

And then she proceeded to plate up the WORST dish from a winner EVER, one of the only few dishes to be dumped into the trash by Joe. The only reason she didn’t get eliminated that episode was because of Alejandra’s raw pork, which was obviously more life-threatening.

Honestly, the whole talent of Season 2 as a whole was pretty terrible, with almost everyone either being super inconsistent or flat-out bad. Even Adrian wasn’t much better at all and I would even consider him the worst runner-up as well. You pretty much only had to be pretty good (and not in the best day) to go far.

Nothing against Jennifer as a person, I had no issues with her or her personality. But objectively speaking she is the worst winner ever and she’s definitely not getting nearly as far as she did in any of these modern-day seasons where the talent has increased tenfold.

Since 2010, 15 full seasons of MasterChef have aired, with its 16th season airing right now (currently paused due to the World Cup). In the 16 years of the show’s existence, there have sure been many all-time HORRIBLE dishes, most of them unsurprisingly made by all-time bad contestants. In your opinion, what do you think is the WORST dish (or dishes) in MasterChef history?
