I’m baked as hell and smiling at the sillies

What to do? (CW: Sick fish images)

Adopted out this guy. Constant swim bladder after fasting for a week then feeding dafnia every other day. Today is day three of Kanaplex in his 5gal quarantine tank.

Parameters as of this morning:
Temp: 78– this is a preset heater I cannot change, but I’ve been thinking about swapping it for a gauge I can increase to 82.
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 20
Ammonia: 0
Chlorine: 0
Hardness: I forget the exact number but it was soft
pH: 6.8

Natural plants: various floaters, banana plant, and one anubias
Plastic plants: one suction-cupped double leaf for him to rest on

Substrate is fluval stratum and medium-sized natural rock

Should I give him more time? Is this a lost cause? He was self mutilating in cup but has some fin regrowth. Will respond to comments as available, I’m about to leave for work.

I do not want him to suffer, but I also don’t want to give up hope.

North America, Wisconsin.

Slightly bigger than a finch. Either its beak or its crest was a very pale yellow. Lots of silver/gray striping under the belly and what looked like long spots on the wings? Had a very plump body compared to its little feets.
