Colonoscopy completed - Anxious for Biopsy Results

I am a 47f and just completed my first colonoscopy. 1 small polyp was removed from the ascending colon and will be sent for biopsy. I don’t know exact size. The doctor said small and the nurse might have said pencil eraser. My future recommended screening is 5-10 years pending pathology results. Does this mean I will have to go back in 5 or 10 years?

I have a history of an anal fissure that was diagnosed 4 years ago. I take 1 dose of miralax per day to keep my stools soft. I get flare ups of burning and discomfort when sitting too long or if I exercise too hard or don’t keep my stools soft. The burning goes away for months and then comes back. I mentioned the rectal burning today to the doctor and felt dismissed and felt crazy for mentioning it. The doctor said in a rude tone “ the burning is in your rectum”. The colonoscopy also noted diverticulitis and internal hemorrhoids. I was told I didn’t have internal hemorrhoids 4 years ago when I was diagnosed with a fissure. A capacious colon was also noted.

Health Anxiety - Scared of Results

I am scared for my colonoscopy on Monday. I just turned 47 so am 2 years past the recommended age of 45. 4 years ago I was diagnosed with an anal fissure. The Colon Rectal doctor did an exam with anoscopy. He said everything looked normal except for a fissure. I since have taken 1 dose of miralax per day to keep my stools soft. I get flare ups of burning and discomfort when sitting too long or if I exercise too hard or don’t keep my stools soft. The burning goes away for months and then comes back. It might even happen with anxiety. I did see small amounts of blood with hard stool when this very first started 4 years ago, but no longer have blood. I am really anxious about what they might find and the burning /discomfort could be caused by cancer.
