I have a front load, direct drive Whirlpool Washing machine. It came with the house I bought. It has two "features" that should have kept it from being released. 1) The filter is on the back of the machine. To clean it, you have to drag the washer far enough away from the wall far enough to get in behind it. (It's in a galley kitchen with vinyl flooring) 2) The detergent dispensing drawer isn't steep enough to acutally drain the water that's in it after the cycle is done. You have to completely pull out the drawer, place it upside-down to drain in the sink or it will grow pink mold. Really stupid of the designers and engineers. BTW, my old house had a Miele front-loader with a filter on the front, so it obviously can be done.

Hi everyone, our stacked whirlpool washer and dryer this morning went haywire. It started normal enough but then we noticed it stalled on the wash cycle and hadn’t filled with water. We restarted it and it filled but when it was time to do the wash cycle it started draining without actually washing. It didn’t spin, the lights didn’t go on and it continued operating when we opened it to see what it was doing. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong with it? We’re trying t9mdecide if buying a new one is the right move or trying to repair it. Thank you!

Whirlpool owns several dishwasher brands, including Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir, and Amana.

My old KitchenAid dishwasher had its control board fry itself, and Whirlpool is offering me 25% off MSRP toward a replacement from one of its brands.

I'm trying to figure out which model would be the best overall choice. My budget is flexible, especially with the discount, and I'm looking for something with excellent cleaning and drying performance, good features, and ideally solid long-term reliability.

Would you stick with KitchenAid, step up to JennAir, or go with Maytag or Whirlpool for better value?

If you were in my position, which specific model would you choose and why? I'd appreciate any feedback on reliability, common failures, and real-world drying performance.

For example Model: KDPS724SJP MSRP is 1584.00 it would come out to 1180.00 with delivery installation and haul away of the old one.

I will do my best to give an accurate description that makes sense and is one point

• This is a Whirlpool french door model with bottom freezer, middle drawer and in built ice maker and water dispenser.

• Is about 5 years old

• Problem started after about a 12 hour power outage.

• Initially we thought the problem was the ice maker

  • ice maker stopped making ice, though has power, has air flow. is cold enough to hold ice just not make ice.

• We eventually realized the freezer is not fully getting to temp. So likely logic board is correctly telling the ice maker its not cold enough to make ice.

• The freezer has good air flow.

• No puddles

• No ice build up

• No frost on condesnors.

• Good air flow in fridge.

• Fridge is getting to correct temp. Confirmed temp matches what is set by checking the air temp with a food probe. If I lower the fridge temp to the lower then recommended setting my probe confirms the temp lowers.

• The freezer is freezing. But no colder then 31 - 32. It keeps all items reliably frozen including ice cream. But to freeze a tray of ice can take 10 to 15 hours.

• If I lower the freezer set temp it does not lower. My independent probe confirms it stays at 31 to 32.

• I don't hear evidence of the condenser or fans running overtime. Sounds normal.

• I managed to google how to run diagnostics. All tests seem to pass.

• The freezer has been like this about 10 months now. The problem is not getting better or worse.

• My best guess (and hope) is bad thermosistor

So I posted earlier that my whirlpool chrome shadow top loader washing machine was only getting hot for the clean cycle, but not to wash clothes. I had a private appliance company come over. They had to replace the entire water valve unit. After parts, labor, and of course New Jersey state tax getting in on the action, I paid $485. I’m very impatient and I wanted it taken care of right away so that’s why I said yes. The machine itself is listed around $1,300 brand new and I’ve had it for about four or five years I would say. Did I just get ripped off? Also, he was here for a good couple of hours so it’s not like he did a 10 minute job and left.
