Back with more Bandai units: Hold Up (1982)

Welcome back with another entry into the Bandai rival series of LCD "game & watches".

This particular unit I found at a smash bros tournament of all things and scooped it up. It says Tandy (Radio Shack) but it actually is a Bandai unit called "Bank Gang".

Much like the early silver series G&Ws, Bandai units were brought over, renamed, and sold under different branding and distribution.

This one was renamed "Hold Up" and is from 1982. It didn't last long because the idea of playing as violent bank robbers raised some eyebrows with American consumers.

Final Round of my First Ever Smoker

Some context: I am recovering from a vicious liver kick I took at the end of round 2 that is affecting my breathing. My opponent still has some left in the tank despite nearly getting knocked out round 1. As a result: I take some big damage this round and I'm not as aggressive as I could have been.

Once again I am blue Corner/Shorts. 6'0, 184lbs. 30yrs.

Back with more Bandai!

This time it is あくりょのやかた (Mansion of Evil Spirits). This one is a Solar powered, DOUBLE panel model.

Rather than use two screens in a vertical or horizontal layout, Bandai liked to overlay their LCD panels to either switch game modes/levels or double the amount of sprites on screen. This one uses it to have one level outside the mansion and one inside. This has the side effect of giving certain sprites (like the score) a "3D" effect where it appears in front of the action.

Bandai made a ton of these double panel models, and a few TRIPLE panel ones that fold out (I'm in the market for one).

Round 2 of my first ever smoker match.

I was asked by this subreddit to post the rest of my Smoker Match. Idk how to post multiple videos so. Here is round 2.

Once again, I am Blue Corner/Shorts. 6'0, 183.5lbs, 30yrs old.

At the end I got nailed with a liver kick that took my breath away. Luckily it was at the end of the round.

Got a good deal on Fire and used it to practice Japanese.

Won a Japanese auction, and after swapping out the worst reflector screen I've ever seen I am left with a very clean "complete in box" fire. Props to whoever put the price tag on the back for using masking tape first instead of direct sticker-on-plastic.

I am not sure if the manual and insert cards are original or reproduction, as they are very clean and the yellow card has instructions for both Gold and Silver units. I don't know if those were sold concurrently.

Still, they made for good Hiragana and Katakana practice.

Bandai Was Giving Nintendo a Run for its Money.

This is one example of Bandai's old handheld LCD series. They came in both battery and solar powered versions. This particular model is "Heaven & Hell" from 1982. It plays a lot like Octopus where you are trying to dodge multiple dangers on your way to a goal. When you reach 300 points you reach "heaven" and catch angelic feathers.

Anyone know how to get rid of sticker "tanlines"?

Recently purchased this OG DS. It's in decent condition but clearly the previous owner was a fan of Turtwig as you can see from the little shape the stickers left behind. Is there a way to normalize this or is this shell cooked?
