Seriously, can we do something about the ridiculous amount of mandatory e-learning and induction we are expected to complete? It has got completely out of hand. Every year there seems to be another pile of bullshit modules added, most of them barely relevant to the job you are actually doing.

For my next placement, somewhere I am going for six months, I have eight hours of unskippable e-learning followed by a six hour in person induction...

Why are radiologists sitting through IT training on ward round entries, observation charts and nursing workflows they will never use?

Why are non patient-facing clinicians completing modules on clerking, prescribing and managing deteriorating ward patients?

Why are pathologists spending an hour doing falls assessments and learning how to move a patient bed “ergonomically”?

Why are medics being asked every year to prove that they can wash their hands, recognise sepsis and escalate an unwell patient?

How many times do we need to watch the same fire safety video? Why does information governance apparently need to be relearned from scratch every time you move to a different trust?

And the best part is that actual practical information like how to get your logins, apply for study leave or a parking permit or even where anything is in the hospital, doesn't form part of any of the induction material...
