Molamola video

If you see the post of the pictures of the molamola, here's the closeup. I used drywall compound to get rid of the paper texture and add the texture of the fish like I've seen in photos. You can go to the other post to see the inspo fish. I should have added more colour but I was in a time crunch.

Finally finished molamola

Check her out! Cardboard, foam, papier mâché, drywall compound. If I did it again I would have made the body form a little different. This was over the mantle like those stuffed fish people put up as a prop in a party. Included the picture I based the fish on.

Mounting to a wall

So I've been doing some crazy paper mache projects and this is a molamola, I know just a teenager one (soda can for size), with the intent to hang it on a wall for a party... but of course I created the fish without thinking how exactly it would go up. She's a little heavy bc I added drywall compound to smooth lol

I thought about gluing her to a cardboard mount, like real stuffed fish often are, and then hanging that on the hook we have. Not sure if that's the best option. Or do I just add a bunch of command strips.

(I added the photo I'm basing her from- right now she just has a quick base coat for paint, yes the little fin isn't the right angle but that's a long story, in other images of molamolas their fins are at different angles so I'm fine with it... ish)

Louisville day trips with kids

I'm visiting my niece and nephew in Louisville for a couple weeks, babysitting. Thought it would be fun to hit another state, or two, within 5 or so hours drive preferably less that I haven't been to. That would be Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, Missouri. Could be an overnight trip if further or a day trip if it's like Ohio. We have lots of time to do stuff here but we've got a couple days free too.

I see some suggestions of South Haven or Ashville. The kids are 10 and 14.

Thanks!

I just want my skin to glow like theirs

Really that's the whole post. These legs and arms and shoulders and decollete just shining all the time. Moisturised to the heavens, glistening. This cast more than ever. I want it. But I'm just a ghost coloured, Sahara dry girlie lol

Weird project fish molds

Concept: fish in a pond attached to bobbers, each fish has an NFC tag EMBEDDED. Guests will catch a fish, bring it to an ipad to check the size, kind of like in animal crossing or star valley. Biggest fish gets trophy.

Needed: I need to make a fish mold, I have experience with silicone but I'm sure I can figure others out. And I want to cast the fish. I thought of clay or plaster, but even after waterproofing, I'm concerned when people throw them back in the pond they might break. I thought of resin, but adding a tag inside might be tricky though theres a few ways to go about it. I'm not sure if I will create a simple fish from clay, make a mold from a real fish, or a mold from a details large fishing lure.

Notes: I could also use wood block fish but I'm not sure how to disappear the sticker. Or two think wood fishes sandwiched together. I'm open to all options

Suggestions for this can

Hey team, I have a plan for how to tackle the curled lid but I want to know all of your thoughts on best methods. I am currently using paper and diluted mod podge. I would like it to be smooth, but I don't think I can paper and drywall compound unless I just go in little sections. Also, should I do the inside?

Current projects

These are the items I'm currently working on for a Fishwife themed birthday seafood boil. One will be like those stuffed fish on a plaque, and the other, a fun prop. Debating adding whimsical full sardines, or making them as they come in the can- no head no tail lol

Oslo May 13; hotel, things to do

I'm going to be in Oslo for one afternoon. From about 1pm, flying out the next morning. I'm debating getting a hotel near the airport or downtown. Im also debating the options on things to do. We did fjords in Bergen and Naeroyfjord. But I love a boat. There's many options for art so I might do something like that. I also love food but have celiac disease. And kind of fun class that afternoon would be cool too. Thanks friends!

TL;DR: Short trip starting in bergen on Thursday, andenes on Sunday, oslo on the 12th and leaving in the 13th. Pro tips?

Short notice for a trip from the states to Norway this week, leaving Wednesday. We will fly into Bergen on Thursday, want to do a fjord thing from there, but we could also drive somewhere as we have a car rented. On the 10th we'll fly to Tromso and I can't remember if we're flying to the final location or driving. I have a couple days in Andenes, I think I might do a puffin tour. Then the person in flying with will stay and I'll fly to Oslo on the 12th, have the afternoon there, maybe go to an art museum or find a class? And fly out early on the 12th.

My questions are:

Weather and clothing. I'm from Canada so I'm fine in cold, layering etc. On the fjord cruises and the puffin thing, they mention water proof boots, do they mean like full on winter snowboots or like hiking boots? It's not exactly winter anymore, but probably raining, so I'm not sure which way to go.

Driving or tour right from Bergen? We could drive to flam and stay for a night or somewhere. But we are flying from Bergen so have to get back there.

I've looked in the wiki and other posts and it seems like we should do Naeroyfjord or Sognefjord. I'm not seeing a lot of options when I search, just a few companies, but I feel like there must be a lot. Any suggestions on which trips are the best or things to avoid? I think we'll do the fjord on Friday. Same question about trips in Andenes. Am I not searching correctly? Is there a good site for finding these things?

In Oslo I'll be by myself, but want to do something fun in the afternoon. I see that the airport is 30-40 minutes from the main area, I'll probably get a hotel by the airport and go into Oslo, should I use a car or public transport? Other suggestions from the museums? I also see a lovely sunset-ish local fjord tour on a sailboat. I have to search still but is there a short class on something Norwegian like food, art, etc that might be available on the 12th afternoon?

Also I have celiac disease but I've never had issues in Europe and the trips I've seen that include lunch seem to take that into account. Also best places to eat in Bergen and Oslo.

Thanks so much for your time and help!
