double screwed at Starbucks
so i had sent out 3 applications at the same time to Starbucks at two different locations. one Starbucks is being built and will open this month, i sent out an application there for entry level and one for shift lead. the other application was for shift lead at the Starbucks further down the street. the new Starbucks manager called me for an interview and said it would only be for entry level, that since that location is brand new he said he already had internal candidates for the role. no problem there and i totally understand this as well, i used to open new stores so i understand hitting the ground running with an established crew. the interview went well and then he gave me an interview with the district manager who makes the final hiring decisions. i felt that went very well too. that was saturday April 25th, the district manager told me i should hear back the following Wednesday if i got the job or if they'll keep my file on record. she assured me regardless they would call me and let me know because Starbucks has integrity and values its partners (employees) and treats everyone fairly. so it's Sunday and no word or email or anything, I'm pretty sure its safe to say i didn't get the job. again being ghosted doesn't phase me one bit, thats the nature of the world today.
now here is where it gets even worse, the monday after my interview with the district manager, the manger from the Starbucks further down the street calls me and ask if i was interested in the shift lead position. i explained that i would love to interview for it but had already interviewed for the regular position at the other location. both locations have the same district manager and the store manager said offering me an interview would create conflicts of interest for my other position and the shift lead position as well. i totally agree with this as well, it would be very freaking weird to get a second interview with the district manager again and be like "hey its me, remember me? i interviewed last week for a regular position but I'm back now for a management position. so what new questions do you have for me or what new details can i give you that wasn't covered last time?"
FML if only what could have been. now we must play the contemplating game. i feel like i was over qualified for the entry level position. had i just solely applied for management i would have never interviewed at the new place, would have been able to interview for management at the Starbucks further down the road. it wouldn't have been too bad of a job either, the new Starbucks is .75 miles from my house, the one further down the street is 1.5 miles.
