Am I putting too much love into direct charcoal cooking?

Am I putting too much love into direct charcoal cooking?
I’ve got a Masterbuilt Gravity XT and absolutely love it, but I still find myself thinking that if I don’t finish certain things directly over charcoal, I’m somehow missing out on flavour.

I think what I’m chasing is that flame-touched, slightly charred flavour you get from cooking directly over coals. Obviously, the Masterbuilt is cooking with charcoal anyway, but you don’t really get those flare-ups from fat hitting the coals. I know deliberately creating flare-ups isn’t necessarily a good thing either.

Good example, I’ve got a really nice topside of beef. Normally I’d roast it in the oven, but I thought about doing it on the rotisserie. I then started wondering whether I should go through the hassle of lighting the Weber, or just do the whole thing on the Masterbuilt.
Ultimately, I’m after maximum flavour.

For those of you who own both, do you genuinely notice much difference from finishing food directly over charcoal, or am I putting too much importance on it when the Masterbuilt is already giving me that charcoal flavour?
Appreciate any advice 👍🏼

Air con quote review

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a quick sense check on an air conditioning quote.

It’s for three rooms:
• Main bedroom, 5.2m × 3.4m
• Home studio, 4.15m × 2.79m
• Open-plan kitchen/family/dining area, 8.2m × 5.94m

They’ve recommended a Daikin two-port multi-split system with two 2.5kW wall units for the bedroom and studio, plus a separate 7kW wall system for the large open-plan area. So that’s three indoor units and two outdoor units, all providing heating and cooling.

The quote is £5,000 with no VAT, plus approximately £750 + VAT for the electrical supplies, making it around £5,900 altogether.

They’re a Daikin D1 partner and will carry out a full survey before providing the final quotation. Does this sound reasonable for a premium Daikin system and installation in the UK?

Thanks!

E25 - not dispensing cleaner

Hey, I had a feeling that the cleaner wasn’t being used. A few weeks ago, I drilled a small hole in the top., hoping it would fix it.

Completely forgot about it to be honest with you, until doing a complete deep clean. Sent it out for a mop, everything is fresh and brand-new, and a mop doesn’t have a single smell to it whatsoever. 100% nothing going through to the mop even with the hole in the cleaner. We mop seven days a week and it takes around 90 minutes for our house as it’s quite big and it hasn’t gone down a single bit.

Can anyone help
