Can I use the same example but in different context for two different questions in the interview?

Hi all,

so I have one example that fits one of the behaviours really well but also fits one of the technical skills really well (obviously presented from a different angle). Am I ok to use the same example in this case? That’s one of my strongest examples for both that particular behaviour and that technical skill.

Should I use ‘we statements’ rather than ‘I statements’ for the behaviour ‘working together’?

As the title says, surely if the behaviour is about working together as a team, I should be using more ‘we statements’ than ‘I statements’ ?

How many people get the interview call for a job that has 50 places available?

Hi all,

just wondering, if a job is hiring 50 people, how many applications would pass the sift and be invited to an interview?

Going from AO to HEO on a salary decrease??

Hi all,

applying for an HEO level brigaded campaign where the pay range is £31,900 to £43,000. The advert says ‘new entrants are expected to join at the minimum of the pay band’.
I am currently an AO with a salary of around £31000 (due to increase more next month). My question is, if I am successful at this HEO position, will I essentially be taking a pay cut even though I’m moving 2 grades higher? Surely that isn’t fair?

New to operations research - this question is bothering me..

Hi all, I’m fairly new to operations research. Just wondering, how do you do cost benefit analysis when it’s not a quantifiable benefit (or cost)? For example, how to factor in the wider social benefits or morals or happiness/satisfaction?

2 civil service jobs; can I be on maternity leave on one but not the other?

Hi all, just wondering if you have 2 civil service jobs - both part time - can you be on maternity leave on one of them for say 9 months but the other one only for a month? Due to the length of time in the second job, I won’t be able to get any full pay salary for it whereas for the first one I will get 9 months pay.

[Question] Explain it to me like i’m a layman: when would you use simulation vs regression?

Hi all,

trying to self study statistics and I’m always confused in which scenarios do you use simulation? Are there any scenarios where regression (or any other model) be used instead? What makes simulation the first/best choice?
please explain it to me like I’m a layman (I’ve got a physics degree)

Basically what the title says, anybody on here applied to the recent mainstream recruitment for HEO/SEO as an operational research analyst? And did you make it to the interview stage?

Good / cheap alternatives to Blum movento under mount drawer runners?

As the title says, looking for some cheaper alternatives to Blum movento under mount drawer runners (specifically in 450mm). I know Blum ones are really good but I can’t spend that much money at the moment so hoping to save on an alternative! Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

20 weeks and can’t feel anything!!

Hi all,

FTM here with a posterior placenta. I’m 20 weeks but I still can’t feel anything. not even the bubbles or flutters ☹️ I think my belly has grown a bit but not much. And my weight has also only gone up by 1kg from pre-pregnancy. Getting a bit worried. Anybody else had the same? I try to poke my belly a lot to try to feel ’something’ but nothing 🙈

Oh and while we’re here , I also had some sharp pain on the lower right side yesterday. Same position at the front and the back . lasted around 10 mins. Anybody experienced the same?

I’m also quite petite (5 feet, and slim. BMI around 18 pre pregnancy).

Anybody exhausted in second trimester but not in the first trimester?

As the title says really. I didn’t feel any extreme tiredness or sleepiness in the first trimester. Apart from the extreme nausea, I really didn’t feel much else. But ever since second trimester has started and my nausea has eased, I’ve been feeling SOO tired and exhausted all the time. I work part time from home and even that is extremely tiring. Got my iron and HB levels checked and they’re fine. Anybody else felt the same?
This is my first pregnancy and I’ve only gained about 1kg so far so it’s not like im carding a lot of weight either.

As the title says, are there any operational research analysts here who are willing to give feedback on my personal statement? I don’t have any prior experience in this field but have a degree (masters) in physics. It’s an HEO/SEO mainstream recruitment.
