Urgent: Looking for a place to stay for 2–3 days

Hi everyone, I’m an incoming exchange student at UIUC arriving on August 16, and I’m currently in a bit of a difficult situation with accommodation. My leasing office took longer than expected to process my request for an early move-in, so I ended up without a place to stay for the first few days. I’m looking for somewhere temporary for 2–3 days (around Aug 16–18). If anyone has an extra/empty room, knows of a place available for a few days, I would really appreciate it. I’m happy to pay for the stay. Hotels are unfortunately very expensive for these dates, so I’m hoping someone here might know of an affordable temporary option. Please DM me if you have anything available or know someone who might be able to help. Thank you!

Incoming exchange student – advice on ECE 329, 340, 411 & 484 workload

Hi everyone! I'm an incoming exchange student for Fall 2026 and would really appreciate some advice from ECE majors.

I'm currently planning to take:

  • ECE 329
  • ECE 340
  • ECE 484
  • ECE 411 (currently haven't gotten a seat because it's full)
  • REL 110

I prioritize ECE 411 the most because I'm interested in going into that field, so if I manage to get into 411, I'm thinking of dropping ECE 484. I've heard that ECE 329 and ECE 340 already have pretty heavy workloads, so I'm a bit concerned about taking too many demanding ECE courses together.

REL 110 is mainly because it's one of the easiest gen-ed courses I can map back to my home university. My courses are pass/fail for the exchange, but I still want to properly understand the material rather than just aim for a pass.

I've already completed many of the lower-level ECE courses at my home university, and some of the other courses aren't particularly useful/relevant to what I want to do. Because of that, I'm considering taking another gen-ed course if I can find one that my university will approve for credit.

So I wanted to ask:

  • Is ECE 329 + 340 + 411 + 484 + REL 110 realistically manageable in one semester?
  • If I get into 411 and drop 484, is 3 ECE courses + 2 gen-eds a reasonable workload?
  • How would you rank 329, 340, 411 and 484 in terms of workload/difficulty?
  • If you had to choose between 411 and 484, would you recommend prioritizing 411?
  • Any recommendations for relatively manageable gen-eds that might be worth looking into?

I'd ideally like to take 5 courses, since that's considered a normal semester load at my home university and I'd prefer not to have to make up extra courses in future semesters.

Would really appreciate any advice, especially from people who've taken these courses recently. Thanks!
